If we want to make this world a better place to live, the first thing we have to do is have confidence that we can. Some Christians dont think we can because if they did, they wouldn't be asking god to help.

IF CHRISTIANS HAVE CONFIDENCE IN HUMANS, WHY DO THEY ASK GOD TO HELP?

I think first of all that having confidence in humans is quite silly. Ummm, that is why we are human. We do make a lot of mistakes. As far as making this world a better place to live, yeah that would be great, but one problem, that will never happen. There is to much corruption in the world today. As for your question Atheists or Christians....I cannot judge but I can say for myself that I do not have confidence in the human race.....My confidence and faith go to my lord and Savior.

Your question if full of anger toward Christians.

First, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the term "confidence in humans." Christians have confidence in God, but it does not exclude us from having confidence that humans can and SHOULD be good stewards of what we have.

I see examples of many Christians who not only think they can make the world a better place, they do make the world a better place. From feeding the homeless to giving free medical care to building houses, I have seen many examples of very giving Christians.

Asking God for help is NOT A SIGN OF WEAKNESS. If you had any understanding of God, then you would know what power comes with having Him at your side and you, too, would desire to pray.

Your question is a lot like saying "If you want to do good on a test, the first thing you need to do is have confidence that you can. So you shouldn't study before taking the test. If you had confidence, you wouldn't be studying, asking your teacher any good questions, rechecking your homework, or doing anything else that might possibly help."

I beleive that christians can but because beleiving in god is such a great thing but on the other hand alot of christians I know are not very nice people. we ask god to help guide us to do the right thing. asking god for help does not mean we don't have confidence in humans just means sometimes we need alittle faith to help us get through the day with some of the bad things humans do.

Although it sounds like you've already decided and just decided to put a mini-rant up, I don't think religion has any bearing on one's confidence in humanity. An Atheist could not believe in god because there is no hope just as easily as one could not believe in god because they believe in humanity unassisted. However a Christian could believe that we should look to God instead of one another if we have problems. A Christian could also be inspired by Jesus to have faith in the human race.

Atheists or Christians.???? Neither i think, because both human beings have an attitude.. The Christians belive the international will be a better appropriate position in case you think in God on the rate of different individuals's rights to no longer to beleive in the Christian God. The Atheists will ban all faith and create even better martyrs!! So, no.. They both have angles. the most appropriate actually everyone appears the silent majority.. those are the agnostics or those those who've no particular idea.. they have a tendency to be tolerant of all the different idiots. So the answer to the better appropriate international is via tolerance and understand-how, that you may no longer get from human beings religiously professional or adverse to God. And the agnostics,,, properly.. they are particularly tolerant and properly.. it may well be worse, will be better appropriate thoughts-set gained't inspire them to augment the international!!! So.. again to the drafting board!!!!

USA Christians are the most judgemental, self righteous, ignorant people on earth. They believe because they are saved that they can sit in judgement of others. They cocoon themselves amongst themselves so as to not expose themselves to non-christians.

Exactly the opposite of what Jesus would have done. Today's Christian's and especially the preachers love to emphasize the negative in the world (this has been going for centuries).

However, they don't see that there are more people alive today living in harmony, love and peace that at any time in human history.

Atheists, at least the moral ones have a greater sense of selflessness because they believe that their life is finite and they want to help selflessly as much as they can in the time they are alive. Many Christian's spend most of their time in worship rather than helping others without condition (a Christian will always have a price for helping you, even if it is for you to listen about Jesus); and atheist may not.

I find the notion that a Christian will try and save someone so that they can have life after death; but that seems so selfish, whereas an atheist may be eternally grateful for the finite life he/she is experiencing, and does not yearn selfishly for anything more than what he/she has been given, that seems more God like and selfless to me.

My faith is in the atheists to have more confidence in the human condition than Christian's, as Christian's are always finding things to scare you into joining them.

As for this quote from the bible that was listed earlier:

"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man." Psalm 118:8

I have no problem with putting faith in the God of your understanding, it's those darn Christian's and the perversion of the simple personal relationship that each person can have with God as he expresses himself exclusively to their own lives that bothers me. To have faith in humanity, and to help non-Christians without condition puts an Atheist well ahead of any gay hating Christian in my book.

Atheists... even the most cynical among us still believe we can all make this world a better place without having to change anyone's beliefs to do it.

"Nikki: what is this fascination that atheists can bring worldpeace? i dont get it"
Who else would be a better candidate to help bring the world to a place where we can all just live together with no more fighting over beliefs then people who are outside the struggle for which religion is to be tops? Mostly we just want all of ya to chill and just live happy together! : ) (That includes us to.)
