Islam doesn't allows you to draw any kind of face. That means, eyes, nose and mouth all together in the depiction of a face. U can draw the hair and the outline of the face and all the rest of the body parts for any positive reason. U can even draw the eye, mouth, nose and ear INDIVIDUALLY for any scientific reviews. But than, I doubt any releigious buildings will have the picture of the internal eardrums hung on their walls. Pictures of landscapes, trees, flowers, butterflies, sillehoutes of birds, animals, humans are allowed.
A serious penalty lies if u draw tthe face or take any kind of picture of the human face. The photographer/artist will be commanded to cast life in his/her photo/drawing/painting of the face on the day of judgement by almighty.
In some mosques, pictures of landcapes or flowers have been seen

Not recommended.
Pictures are allowed in Islam, even photographs are ok.
However keeping a pic in a mosque is not recommended, prob because it may divert ones attention.
And like someone said above, picture of God or a prophet is forbidden.
So if someone keeps a pic anywhere, its prob some writings of the Qur'an or maybe a pic of Ka'ba.
