Not financial ownership - but seeing as how he is part of the family, is it his house/car too?

Or should it be the parents house and car only, to keep control over the child? ("Not it my house!")

Is it MY home or OUR home?

I think that the kid should have control over his/her room in the house. But, not unlimited control (ie- the kid can't knock down a wall). The kid should not have a share in the car. If he/she can't drive it, then he/she doesn't get a share in it.

Legally a minor cannot enter into a binding contract. So they can't be on your car lease or your house mortgage. I have to agree with that, your children don't have the maturity to make a decision like that. What if you child got a second mortgage on your house so he could buy the latest Game Boy.

I wouldn't consider your children as owning the car or the house, or the furniture. They only own what you give to them and what they earn or buy. If you gave them an interest in your house our car then they should be helping to pay for it , and that's just wrong.

A child should feel that the house is their home as much as their parents. I still call my childhood home my home and when I go to visit I have run of the house just like it was mine.

It is your HOUSE and their HOME. You set the rules and they live there. If you treat your kids as a friend first and a parent second you are asking for a spoiled brat.

Rules regarding privileges and responsibilities, should be made by the person who pays the bills, with consideration for discussion and negotiation. Rules should reflect respect for everyone living there.

It sounds like you have some issues with authority. If you want to partake of those things like the car, etc., maybe you ought to see them as priviledges.
