Simple, well it is simple for a woman. Sex for the first time hurts, and it is only something to sharewithsomeone you love. When a woman has not had sex yet she does not know how good it can actually feel. Next she does know that it is going to hurt. Would you put yourself in pain for someone you don't have feelings for? I dn't think so.

Most women categorize sex as an emotional standing. So even sex for the first time is important because women ussually need some sort of emotional attachment to be able to have a great time. If it not enjoyable the first time, they will not want to come back for more. Moreover, If a man makes a women uncomfortable with her decision she can come later to regret that decision made.

Because there are still some traits of XIX Century and older sexism lying around.
Besides, women break their hymen (a thin skin layer inside the vagina) when they have sex for the first time, so I guess it's a "bigger deal" for them and society because of that too.

Because thats taking a big step, it takes a lot of trusting emotionally and physically to allow someone inside of your body, you have to be able to trust them and care about them and feel secure.
