As a group, atheists.
Atheists do not have millions of people eagerly anticipating the complete destruction of the earth. Nor do atheists have tv spokespeople who advocate waging war on Muslims 24/7, 365 days a year.
But, there are exceptions, just not too many in today's "Christian" community.

Atheists or Christians.????
Neither I feel, because both people have an angle.. The Christians belive the world would be a better place if you believe in God at the expense of other people's rights to not to beleive in the Christian God.
The Atheists will ban all religion and create even more martyrs!!
So, no.. They both have angles.
The best people are the silent majority.. These are the agnostics or those people who have no special belief.. They tend to be tolerant of all the other idiots.
So the solution to the better world is through tolerance and understanding, which you won't get from people religiously pro or against God.
And the agnostics,,, well.. they're pretty tolerant and well.. it could be worse, could be better attitude isn't going to motivate them to improve the world!!!
So.. Back to the Drawing Board!!!!

Related info: Making this world a better place has been Satan's goal since man was created. He has been trying to create heaven on earth but man is just too arrogant to do it. Also, God says that this world belongs to Satan who is its ruler, and that it will continue to go downhill getting worse and worse until the Lord finally comes in and takes over. Then it will be perfect environment for 1,000 years. And man will still keep trying to screw it up because that's what man does best. That's one reason we all need God's plan and His methods of operation.
So I would say that Christians and atheists both are trying to make this world a better place but that this is an impossible task. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can do that and will, at the perfect time. Man is always trying to DO something that only God can do.

Since we do not live in heaven - yet, there will always be natural disasters, problems, trials, and tribulations. So neither atheists not Christians can prevent that. A better place is merely driven by technology, and both Christians (which most inventors are), and whatever beliefs people have, are the ones who make it to happen. But there are still problems. The point of Christianity is not to eliminate problems, but to understand in how to deal with it in a good, positive manner.
It is okay to ask God for help. Besides, there are evidences that prayers of a faithful person do work.
Galatians 7
7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature[a]will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Unquestionably Atheists. When the Christian mindset took control of the world it plunged mankind into the dark ages. There were some great Christians but most of them were branded as heretics and excommunicated. Christianity and progress mix like oil & water. If Christians have ever progressed it was because of pressure from the secular world. Atheists don't pray, they take action.

Neither!
What works is for us to have faith in ourselves and our fellow humans. But the power we possess comes from within, from Spirit, our true nature, and which connects us all to each other and to everything. We must believe that we are more than just our physical selves and then we can see that we are all the same and we will begin to include everyone. It is when we see ourselves or others as less that we create a world of exclusion. A world of haves and have nots. Create a world where everyone feels included and we will have solved all our problems. This will only happen when we realize that we are all the same, we are all connected and what affects one affects all.

Christians have no reason to want to make this world a better place because they believe there is something much better after they die. I can't speak for all atheists, but I believe that we all have a very short time here on this planet, that this is all there is, and there's no reason not to try to make that time as pleasant as we can for everyone while we're here.

Probably atheists, because they will make the effort to change the world instead of waiting for God to do it, all the while the Christians are saying the world is crappy because God is allowing the sinners to be punished.

most definitely with out any doubt
NON CHRISTIANS,what ever they may be
the Christians are the most callous about Nature, they have caused the most wars ,destroyed most of the Nature ,killed most of the indigenous peoples ,
killed most of the animals
they say that God put all animals there, for their use to kill as they please.
their agriculture has deforested most Forrest's
I have lived and visited many Cultures .
in south Africa Christian farms can be recognized easy because of the lack of trees ,their farming being the most greedy not wanting to ¨waste¨ten square meters to leave a tree behind ,occupying 100% for the maize fields,Mexican Farmers are the same.
apart from all that they are socially the most fanatic about only wanting other Christians as neighbors and are infamous for the racism and intolerant attitudes that prevail
