If you want top of the line, go for a Canon EOS Digital Rebel. Its what many professionals use. Very good quality. Very user friendly.

Well, you don't tell us much about your needs or your budget.

I shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel EOS 350XT. I liked the price (~$750 for the back), the availability of the lenses, the 8.3 megapixel chip that is so quiet thermally that ISO 1600 is useable.

I have no regrets about what I bought. It was either Canon or Nikon for a digital SLR.

BTW, I just bought a Canon SD700 IS 6 megapixel point and shoot also. Nice camera. Some limitation on features but wicked quick.

Take a look at my galleries and see if you are into that kind of photography.

Even though many people answered this question, the is no right answer because we don't know your needs. There are no perfect cameras for everthing. Perhaps you should look at a camera buying guide like www.neocamera.com, it teaches what is important depending on your needs.

Product: Polaroid x530

"The X3 sensor shows lots of promise. Its filter technology assigns each pixel red, green, and blue rather than just one of the three. Because there's no color-filter array, the sensor doesn't have to reconstruct missing color data and generate the attendant postprocessing artifacts. To learn more, check out Foveon's Web site. For the chip's latest iteration, dubbed the F19, the company made substantial design and manufacturing changes intended to decrease noise and increase light sensitivity. " -Cnet reviews

I recommend you buy CANON. They have great digicams. My sister has gone through several digicams and her latest is CANON (the one with 7Megapixels) and we both believe that CANON's the best. I have a CANON digital camera as well, the IXUS400...It's been my digicam for 2 years now and it hasn't let me down eversince.Ü
