For females this happens within a few months after starting their period.
For males this occurs when the body reaches the chronological age of 16. This age is determined by a bone age x-ray. This means that it may be anywhere from 13 to 25 years of age.

I graduated from high school at 18 standing 5'6" and weighing 110 lbs. Currently at 45 I stand 5'7" and weigh 175 lbs. I "discovered" my new height around 25 just by chance - I hadn't realized I grew an inch. Originally I thought I had reached my "finale" height at 14, 'cause that's when I first reached 5'6".

I'm comfortable with my height and I like females that are from 4'8" to 5'6" though 5'3" is about ideal for me.
