I've been appointed as Praise and Worship Leader at a church I have recently joined. I've only been there 5 months and of course there are people who dont respect me, just because I'm young and new in ministry. Right now we are going through transition to a new, bigger church building and in our temporary place now, I havent been asked to lead since we left our old building. I am a bit confused, i try not to get fleshy, but it hurts. This is what i am called to do.I know I am still a leader, but i really feel like I've been thrown to the back burner.has anyone experienced this? I feel so alone. It hurts, like someone is stifling my gifts and callings. How do I get past this and strengthen myself in the transition?(Born Again believers and/or Minsters only pls)

Hang in there. It seems that sometimes minsters start worrying about looking good rather than anointing and passion. We went through a time like that. The head music minister was so concerned about sounding professional that he recruited people to play in the band that were not even Christians.

Also for some reason people get looked over, even though they are talented and have a passion for worship. Unfortunately ministers are human too. I wish we were superhuman but it didn't happen the day we became ministers.

Stay encouraged! The Word tells us that if we humble ourselves, He(God) will exalt us in due time. Your gift will make room for you. In the meantime, practice and take advantage of any opportunity you have.

I can relate...after a year after joining my church, they asked me to be the youth leader....A lot of people have trouble with change and the first few months that I took over the youth wasn't very much fun...but I really prayed about it and continued to do my thing and everything just worked out...just be patient and things will work out for you....adjusting to change is hard for a lot of people. If there is a leader in the church who you really trust talk to them, maybe there is a reason for what they are doing. I'm having a few problems because of my inexperience with leading the youth.....I have some parents who feel like they need to tell me how to run things.......Just keep your faith and trust that God will take care of the rest....God Bless!!

I would suggest you try your best to look at this from Gods perspective. You aren't enduring anything he doesn't want you to. He's in control. no one in that church has any authority over you that he didn't give them. If you have a calling....it doesn't really matter if they accept you or not, in fact, what a terrible loss for them if strife or vainglory has prevented them from accepting such a god-given gift as a worship leader with a genuine call. I would pray for them. There is only 1 spirit according to Gods word...and in this case, someone is filled...and someone isn't. That means a soul in that church is in trouble and needs prayer. God won't give you a call, and then not provide the venue for you....he's just showing you something.... be patient :)

Regaurdless of the denomination of belief, you should be able to talk to your pastor or priest or minister or whomever is in charge of volunteer leaders and get a clear answer as to why you lost your position. Maybe it is petty backstabbing, maybe it is because you weren't very good at it (I'm not trying to be mean, but it is possible). You need a straight answer from someone in order to know how to proceed.

If it was a personal issue, maybe you need to work on your humility and pray for the jerks that are being mean to you. I don't remember "treat other people like crap" being in the bible, however I do remember jesus saying Love Thy Neighbor. You might want to pray that your fellow parishioners come to understand what that means. And sometimes, regaurdless of your merits or whatever, sh*t happens. Bad things happen to good people. Being any religion is not a shield from unfairness and unhappiness. Find strength in your faith so you can cope. As I recall, Jesus was a pretty good model of someone who was unfairly treated like crap by other people and rose above it.

And if it is because you were not good at the job, try to figure out why and use both secular and religius means to get better at it. There are leadership and organization workshops you can take, or maybe you just need to work on something within yourself. It might take prayer or reflection or meditation.

But I think you need to figure out why this happened before you can really take any new steps.

GO to ur pastor first and tell him/her what's going on. Pray that God will sift those who are truly not there for the right motives. You may have to schedule a meeting with them. Make sure the pastor and Godly support is present. I've been there a few times. Elderly ones are hard to convince that younger people have gifts that need to be used and celebrated. God bless you on your leadership promotion! May God strengthen you in this endeavor!

If it's bothering you that much, you just need to talk to your church council, or whoever asked you to be the Praise and Worship leader in the first place, and tell them what you just told us. Chances are, you are not as forgotten as you think.

Ya know, that says a lot of really negative things about that congregation ya joined. You might try another church who knows the values of gifted people who are trying to help everyone. If they don't accept your appointment, do they really listen to the service? Think about it.

Did you ever consider God was trying to teach you to be humble?

In reading your complaint, the message comes out loud and clear that you consider yourself far too worthy to have been assigned such an undignified role.

Perhaps you should accept what God has given you and learn from it rather than complaining like a heathen or atheist.

(I'm an atheist but I know all the right words)

Be confident in your appointment by God. If you cant lead the Worship in Church, lead it in the street if you have to.
