The Black Butterfly has to land on you, for the superstition to take effect. If it lands on a symbol or number, that is the basis of a preminition. Usually negative. In your immediate vecinity.

My mother has often pointed out "Black Omens" that have come true. Whether it's real or just coincidence, it's hard to say. However I can tell you this:

My mother suffers from schitzophrenia, I learned to dismiss her rants and raves, because it's like the boy who cried wolf, you never know if it's going to be true or not! The Psychiatrist prescribed her a powerful anti-psychotic medication called Zyprexa, which has been recalled because it's poison. There is a class action law suit going on about it. She took the pill once.. that is the day my whole life (mentality) changed...

Novemeber 23rd, 2005 -Mom takes pill after feeling depressed and worried. Not according to manufacturer's directions. She popped one or two.

That night she snuck up on me while I was sleeping like a vampire in the dark. Her hair was waving up like medusa snakes and she was breathing like a dog. She Was so terrifying to behold, I was awestruck for a second as I shouted "MOM! what's wrong! wake up! are you sleeepwalking?!"

No response! She was completely "posessed"!
Speaking in Tongues and acting like a demon or a zombie in a trance. Scary.

I was about to call 911 when she raised her hand and sort of came out of it. I immediately thought his was a cruel joke, crazy none-the-less.

After turning on the light, I was lecturing her on scaring me half to death! when she raised her pointer finger and pointed to the Calendar on the wall and said in a creepy voice that was not her's "A Black Fly lands on the 25th!" "Death Comes to town that day!"

Whatever mom. I thought. Strangely there WAS a black Fly on the 25th!

Sure enough on the 25th... My Parakeet died, my Neighbor's Cat died, My other neighbor's dog died, it was like pets all around me were dying! I also found another strange dead dog by the road that day!

I thought too many to be a coincidence! she totally predicted it!

By the way, I'm an Athiest with minimal spirituality, and I'm a cynical person that doesn't believe in these strange things, but hey..I know what happened. I saw what happened. The drug induced a psychic vision of death, and it came true.

I tell we keep a lot of small pets now.. because my mother says small pets, absorb death when it comes to town, and apparently, it comes to town.

I'm so sorry. And here we were just getting to know each other better. Now you are going off with your black butterfly of death. You are going to leave something in your will for me right? I am really going to miss you. What was your name again?

Not too long ago a big black moth/butterfly came in my room and din't leave til' 2 days later. Every now and then it will return.

Growing up in a chinese family, we believe that a beloved deceased often returned in a form of moth/butterflies to visit their loved ones.
