Go to AKC web site and look up earthdogs.

I don't know what breed of dog you have, but Terriers were bred to catch rats. If your puppy caught a rat before he was old enough to get a rabies shot, you should try to compete with him. You have an awesome dog!

He killed you a present! I would take him to the vet, and hang on to the dead rat (as gross as keeping a deceased rodent is) in case they want to test him for rabies. What a good little rat killing pup! :-)

nurse it back to health or put it out of its misery if its that bad. and by that i mean kill it i know its harsh but it will keep the animal from suffering. and there is nothing you can do for the dog she or he has the taste in there blood now and it is almost impossible to stop them from going after more but the dog was prob. playing with the rat just too hard.

Well, first of all, throw the rat away.

Then call the vet and see what they suggest.

Good for him. Is the rat dead? You could take it and flush in down the toilet. And have your dog checked out by the vet.

either kill it, take the dog outside and have it drop the animal, or take the rat yourself and let it go. just don't let him eat it because it might have had rat poisoning.
