"Exercise" your brain consistantly. Solve puzzles, learn different things...read...etc. Constant mental activity will help.

There are some different foods that you can eat as well. Check out this site: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6560710/

I do not know personally anyone, but as a caregiver at a retirement village, strokes often result in memory loss... although I've observed it is short term memory that worsens. I do not know all the medical reasons, but strokes affect the brain as do T.I.A.s (I think they are like mini strokes, then again, im not a registered nurse)... So your dad is not unusual in showing memory loss... however the doctor would be right about being unclear as to whether it will be permanent.

Disciplining your mind through repitition. Stay off sugar, Pay attention more to details. Always make a memory when you set your keys down and learn to back track to where you were last when you lost something. Details, very important. Forgetting every once in awhile is normal. I wouldn't worry to much. Just don't forget to turn the burners off your stove before you leave home.lol

If this is getting worse because you are getting older, fasting is the best method of anti-aging. It gets rid of toxins that make all health issues worse.

See below site to see what fasting is all about and see what 8 MDs think about it. Some people think that it is unhealthy. Does that mean that Jesus was stupid for doing it for 40 days? Also done by Socrates, Plato, Pythagoras, Moses, Mark Twain, Gandhi and Vidal Sassoon.

Keep your mind active. Don't just slouch in front of the tv, but read, do crossword puzzles, and things like that. Try learning a foreign language. That is supposed to really help.
