Library's are great to donate books to. However, if you really want to make an impact with your donation, find the nearest Ronald McDonald House. Families who use the services of the Ronald McDonald House spend a lot of time in the home. Books are a great way for the kids to get their minds off of their circumstances, as is the same for the parents.
They too can provide a tax receipt for your donations so you do get a tax credit.
I hope this helps!

Many Goodwills also take donations of books and will be happy to give you a tax receipt for them. They are sold for very little and a large percentage of the revenue goes back into rehabilitation programs for disadvantaged and disabled people. It is an excellent place to buy Childrens books, as these are very costly new.

Not sure if there are any Mennonite churches in your area but I donate all my withdrawn books to a Mennonite church in my area. They have lots of overseas mission projects and can always use books.
