The way that I understand the story of Mary and Joseph goes (and it's been awhile since I've read it) is that she was raised in the church basically and had come of age to be married, which if I remember correctly was 15. Joseph was an older man, with other children, I don't know if he had other wives, but I know he was married at least once before.

Joseph didn't want to marry Mary, is the jist of it. There was some sort of religious thing where all the men stuck their sticks into the ground and one of them would suddenly grow flowers. Joseph's staff was the one that "won" the maiden, and he was pretty much forced into marrying her.

So anyway, when they married, there was some reason why he couldn't have relations with her, something about how long the ceremony was, like 21 days or something. He left the city, and didn't return until well AFTER the 21 days was up. And she was already pregnant.

A lot of what I just told you was taken from the Apocrypha, and like I said, it's been a long time since I've even thought about it.

Well, Jesus' parents weren't actually married at the time we was known to be conceived. They were engaged. Now, Mary was known to be a teenager, maybe 13 or 14; age not exactly known. Joseph was was prolly in his later teens. I base this on an official position, AKA the Bible.

There is no "official" word on this but iit s assumed Mary was around 15,16, or 17. You can only guess at Josephs age. My guess would be in his 20s. If you want you could research and study biblical times and see how old average Jewish people were when they got married 2000 years ago.

there is an truly uncommon phenomenon (so uncommon that there is no checklist, that i comprehend of, of it ever happening with a human woman) referred to as parthenogenesis wherein a woman can reproduce all by making use of herself. even however, the offspring this produces is often woman (XX), as a woman has no Y chromosomes to make a contribution to the offspring (making XY impossible). it truly is a uncomplicated way of reproduction in some decrease species, even however, in 2004, scientists on the Tokyo college of Agriculture effectively used parthenogenesis with mice. the comparable technique must be used for people. So interior the very close to destiny, there must be people born and not making use of a father. yet that they had all be woman. so some distance as non secular memories flow (this is what i think of you're desirous to nicely known approximately, truly than scientific rationales--curse my overly analytical and serious suggestions!), Buddha replace into mentioned to be born of a virgin. So replace into Mithra. Likewise, some community American, Aztec and Mayan deities have been mentioned to be born of virgins besides.

According to Orthodox Jewish tradition in ancient times, men were to be married between the age of 20 and 21. Women were to be married one year after the onset of her first menstruation.
I would guess Joseph was 21 and Mary at 14.
