Scotch is the name for the whisky produced in Scotland. Any Scotch whisky, bottled in Scotland will be just Scotch.

There are different styles of Scotch, the commonly advertised ones such as Johnnie Walker, Bells and J&B are include different Scotch whiskies blended together to be consistent.

Single Malt Scotch whisky comes from one distillery and each has a distinctive flavor resulting from the area where it is made, and the water and malts used in its distilation, look for brands such as Glenmorangie and The Glenlivet.

It is a pleasant task to attempt to taste them all to identify ones favorites.

Scotch is a particular type of whisky just as champagne is a special type of sparkling wine.

There are unblended pure scotch called "single malt" which are made from premium ingredients and are quite expensive. They are often in locked cabinets in the supermarket.
