I agree with you God first, family, then church. It sounds a little cultish. I never felt the need to ask my church permission to do anything concerning my life or my families. If you feel something is wrong, I suggest prayer, constant prayer. I am a firm believer that God answers prayers.

Your priorities are the same as mine, but not everyone's are that way. Remember in the Bible that the apostles had to abandon their lives and their families to follow Jesus and then to build the Church. Some people are called to work for the Church even before their families. Still, there should not be bitterness between brothers. Talk to him; try to at least find understanding of each other even if you can't find agreement.

God should come first because your family won't get you into heaven. But God also says family is important. You can have God first and still have time with your family. If the church expects that out of him - that he puts them first- then they are wrong and he should find another church.

God of course. As far as Church and Family, it would depend on what is going on at Church and what is going on with family. If there was a family emergency, Family. If I had committed to do something at Church and there was a family picnic, Church. I all depends on the situation at hand.

God comes first.
When you think about it,it was quite a smart move to tell us to do that.
Because if He comes first,so does everything.
If you put God first,it means you follow his rules.
Those rules are going to church, mosque or any other religious place and taking care of and loving your family.
God's books include everything.
Putting God first, doesn't set the other things back.
Contrary to popular belief following God,does not involve sitting the entire day reading out of the Bible,Koran(Qu'uran) or Thorah.
It means doing what God says.
Working,Praying,Sharing,Loving and Living,Behaving,Giving,Taking and everything else.

I don't understand your question, since God commands His children to care for their families. His most common parallels for His relationship to us is that of a family, with Him as the Father, and Jesus as our brother.
I hesitate to respond as I do not know of your brother's circumstances, and although I can see plainly that you are hurt by his actions, I don't know that your view is a bit jaded.
If he is an employee of the church, then just like a job, you need to get permission before just taking off, if you wish to keep your job that is lol. Or it may be that he considers the church his family now ... I honestly don't know, as I don't know your brother.

I don't think there's a list that is correct...
God is in the center, and everything else is a prong that stems from it. Sometimes, his obligations to the church may be very important. However, he needs to realize that he should also serve his family.
I think it's a case-by-case situation. As long as it all stems from God's will, he is doing the right thing.

Well, tradition says that the order is God, mother country and family.
C. S. Lewis says, I think it is in his book "a grief observed", that a main problem with religious people is that they us religion as a way, not religion as a end.
Let me explain myself a little bit, I'm writing you from Argentina and my english is not the best. What I'm trying to say is that your brother is just replacing God with his church, when his church should lead him to God.
If my family is in trouble, my church or my God would'nt interfer in me helping or supporting my family. I think this is quite logic, but in these days it's difficult to trust what you think's logic.
Hope I've helped you!
