Records show that is not the case--only a small number work on farms. Where does this baloney come from?
Most (the majority) make a decent wage.
Just like the people here. We have many who
get min wage--look at web boards.
Where does that idea come from-lets use the poorest as are model for a point?

And kids can do the farm work--use to all the time.

Actually, that is why there is a 10 month school year. The kids were needed on the farms during the summer.

And I am not going to try to verify the figures, but you have a number of migrant workers that move from crop to crop as the weather changes. Which means starting out in the South, then moving North in late summer.

There are also some crops that cannot be mechanically harvested, they are too fragile. Most of the berries are in this category. Yeah, you can mechanically harvest pretty much all the grains, but I would love to hear of a machine that can harvest strawberries.

Um, with an official population of 350 million or so, 12 million is indeed a small number. And they are not even officially counted as population...

Many people who are starving to death in other countries would be happy to get any job. But everyone else got in here legally , why should some get special treatment over others? If you are coming from a place where the floors are dirt and and you are eating flies and sparrows to keep alive, I would think minimum wage would look pretty good. But, the USA can't fix everybodies problems.

And, furthermore, the issue isn't what they're making, the issue is why there's ONE illegal 'alien' in the US. Treaties with other countries is where that one gets solved, not in arguments about wages...

I dont think anyone is suggesting that they all pick fruit. They also work in restaurants, janitorial, maids, landscaping, among other things. They do make a decent wage, if you consider minumum wage decent. And they usually have more than one job.

Mexicans pick your veggies and fruits-that's the truth. Others work as nannies, chambermaids, bussers, dishwashers, meatpackers-all jobs Americans would never do...
