Is there a blood test to determine race or indicators of? If so what are the indicators? I have heard about low white cell counts as indicators of being of African American descent.

No there is no blood test that determines race. A doctor is smart enough to be able to tell what race someone is. There are some diseases that a person is more likely to get if they are African American like high blood presure or multiple myeloma just to name a few. Sickle cell disease is found only in African Americans.

White blood cells are part of your immune system and have nothing to do with race. A low white cell count can be an idication of leukemia, lupus or is a result of chemotherapy. Race can be determined by a DNA test.

i dont think that races have different kind of blood, on the insides we are all the same... and i think you herd of a disease that is common in african american that includes low blood count...so if there was a blood test and there was a low white blood cell count it is most likely to be a african american

Nope, it's in the dna. Af. Am. have the same amount of white cells as other people. White blood cells fight disease and have nothing to do with pigment color, that's controlled by keratin in the skin. And anyway, it's not a race test since there is SCIENTIFICALLY only one human race. You need to brush up on your biology. It does trace traits by ethnicity and location of habitat ancestorally.

Y dna passes from father to son only mitochondrial dna passes from mother to both sons and daughters but only the daughter passes it on to her children. Autosomal dna is what most of your DNA is. You get it 50-50 from both parents. It is the only dna that can prove paternity of a female. They use Autosomal to determine ethnicity. Put Family Tree DNA into your search engine. It has the largest data base. Also there is SMGF (Sorenson Molecular Genealogical Foundation). They are doing DNA for free but the won't send you a report. You can see your family line on their website once they have completed it. They apparently are getting a lot of tests. I sent mine in March or April and they tell me they have it but it isn't on the internet yet, but it will be eventually. It doesn't give the names of any living people. You have to furnish them with a 4 generation genealogy.

No...race is a scientifically unsound principle. Humans are all part of the same species -Homo Sapiens. Ask any anthropologist. The differences in appearance in peoples from different parts of the world are just adaptations that occured over thousands of years so that people could more easily thrive in their particular environment. As biological organisms, all humans are the same.

DNA tests can determine the race of the person.

No, there is not.

Race is a social construct, not backed up by biological evidence. All humans have a very high percentage (more than 99%) of their DNA in common.
