Let him get involved with the cat. Have him check to see if there is water in the dish or food. Ask him to get water and feed the cat. Have him play with the cat while you supervise, to let your son know what is too rough for the kitty, and maybe before long it wont be a big to do that you have the kitty. Especially since you gave him the chores of looking after the kittys food/ water dish. This worked great for my 3 year old son.

You have to ignore the kitten and allow your 4 year old son to bond alone with the cat otherwise he will resent women as an adult.
The kitten is cute as hell and only cuddle the cat if your son is not around.
He is not jealous , he is deeply hurt. The kitten has severed a bond with you, the parent.
For the first time, he witnessed you love another while beeing ignored from your love.

You should maybe encourage your son to play with the kitten, and let him help take care of it.

Kittens are time-consuming, but you don't want to make your son feel like the kitten is getting all the attention.

Talk about the kitten as "our" kitten. Ask his advice--like Do you think it is time we feed our kitten? Do you think our kitten would like this toy, or that one better? Doing this will give him a sense of ownership and will create protectiveness in him. Works much better than just telling him it is his kitten.

Allow him to bond with the kitten and make sure your son know that he comes first with you before the kitten.

Focus your attention on your son first , spend time with him and give him attention,do things to draw his attention away from the kitten such as playing outside, then gradually include the kitten.

Aww how cute! Anyways, make sure to spend lots of time with your four year old son and always put him first, that way he feels that you think he's more important and won't get jealous
