I am a Christian Pastor and I will tell you freely that one of the biggest problems facing the Church to-day is they way it has been hijacked by those wishing to finance their dreams on the backs of others.

Yes, I think that some religions are run like businesses, but I don't necessarily think it's wrong. They are businesses.
People who partake of the services provided need to be prepared to pay for the service they receive.
Religion isn't just about God. It is about people and run by people. And these people have to live, they have to eat. I'm talking more about your average minister here, than the big time TV evangelists, but it's the same concept.
Religions take buildings, which require building materials, people to build them, utilities, furniture, pews, etc. Religions need ministers, accountants, janitors, administrative staff and they all need (and deserve) to be paid decent salaries.
And while we're on the subject, why should working for the sake of God mean they should be paid a pittance? Why should people who don't really do anything of any meaningful value like actors and singers and sports stars get paid billions and people who do meaningful work have to make slave wages. When it comes to money our priorities are all mixed up in our culture.

The Vatican have more money in their vaults than all the banks in the world put together. They stole many works of art from the Jews as they were ushered into the death camps. And today they still sell idols and indulgances like they were going out of fashion. They have even taken the 2nd commandment which says that you should not make any idols and bow down to them, they have taken that out of their literature, and made the 10th commandment into two so they still have 10 commandments!
They make Billions each year selling ststues of Mary and the saints they have made! Also purgatory is a real BIG money earner for them, you can pay the RC church money all your life and even your grand kids can to, to get someone of of a place they have made up. Purgatory has no basis in Scripture, they just made it up to get your money!

Read on....!!!
Religion IS a business...some are the business of saving people, some are in the business of converting people, some are in the business of lining their own pockets, some are in the business of helping those who can't help themselves, and others are in the business of destroying people's lives through deception of self and others all in the name of God/Jesus.
The problem with religion whether it is for good or bad is that it often says that you need to put God ahead of yourself (which is good thing); but what they mean is to put the religion ahead of yourself and God and that is where many people get taken.
Remember it costs nothing to have a relationship with God. It's as simple as talking to him; he will show you the way.

Many churches run like a busienss today, and what's wrong with that? Why shouldn't a church take the "best practices of the day" and be as efficient as they can with their resources for their cause?
I'm okay with that.

In many churches, the priests and pastors collect money for preaching. I think the word of God should be free for everyone.
