The happy answer is: No. Your kitten won't die. If you cut into the quick of the nail, it will bleed. You can stop the bleeding with direct pressure and a paper towel or something. Pet stores also sell a powder that makes the blood clot quickly. Purina has a program called Kittenwise that you can enroll in and they have a lot of answers to questions. You can find them at www.purina.com. Click on the Kittenwise button

Absolutely not. I worked at an animal hospital for five years and we used to cut some animals nails short on purpose so they would take longer to get back. At the animal hospital, we had a powder to put on the nails to stop the bleeding. You can buy this at pet stores. However, if you don't want to go out, chili powder also does the trick. Just put a little on the end of the kitty's nail and it will stop the bleeding.
I actually did this to my kitty just last week. I cut one of his nails too short by mistake. He is fine. I have never seen an infection from this.
Good luck!

If the nails do not bleed than you probably aren't cutting them too short. I recommend keeping styptic powder handy when trimming animal nails. If you cut the quick (the pink part of the nail) it is very hard to stop the bleeding but a little styptic powder will do the trick, that is assuming you can catch the cat again :)

They can lose a lot of blood from their nails if it's let go. If you feel uncomfortable about cutting them, most vets will do it for about five to ten dollars for you. If you've already cut them and you cut some too short, you can put a little flour on the nail and it will stop it from bleeding.

I work at Petsmart and have worked at a Vet Clinic. If you cut the quick to short...the blood vessel in the nail. It can bleed, but just use baking soda and pressure to stop it from bleeding. They should be easy to see, the red part of the nail is the blood vessel, just cut slightly before that.

No. Just cut off the points though, not the whole nail. That way the kitten still has defence against predators, but you can enjoy its company without being clawed to death.

Next time you're playing with kitty, take a look at her claws. You can see the "quick"...that would be the line up the middle of the claw. There is blood in there. Watch when you cut claws that you don't cut that far down. Just be careful, and you'll be fine. Mine are front declawed, but I clip back claws.

"die"? no, but BLEED, yes! LOTS of PAIN, yes!!
if U don't know how to do this, WAIT - & get someone who will show U safely how to do it.
cats are what U live with; kittens are only the beginning, & teaching Ur kitten that nail-trims HURT!!! is a very bad start for a hopefully long life.

No I doubt it, but cutting it too short probably hurts the kitten. My cat was declawed as a kitten by their previous owners..

you could desire to get some particular cat nail trimmers, you could set them to cut back of a definite length and it prevents injuring your cat. i do no longer think of there is something you're able to do now yet interior the destiny you could desire to in all hazard purchase the particular animal clippers. don't experience undesirable, i've got completed it earlier too. it is all component of being a puppy proprietor ;)
