How do I do it with dry hair?

wet- put curling gel or mouse in your hair, then take pieces and twist them around your finger. If your hair is naturally straight put some hairspray in it, but if your hair is wavy or curly you don't have to.

Dry- curl you hair with a .5 inch curling iron, then when you are done comb your fingers through it and shake it a bit. Put hairspray in it when you are done.

With dry hair, just use a 1/2 inch barrel curling iron, bend over, and put random curls throughout your hair while you're head is upside down, this ensures that you have some curls in the hard-to-reach back of your heard.

If you want decent waves/curls, another great thing to try (which I do myself) is to go buy Wash N Curl (only costs like $4 at Walmart), follow the directions- leave it in for a good 5 minutes, then you can either blow dry it while your bent over and scrunch your hair while drying it (Your hair will look like the Olsen Twins wavy hair), or for super waves- put a dab of mousse into your damp hair and put it up in a bun and sleep with it that way. The next day when you take your hair out of the bun, it'll be way wavy.

I have used the Velcro rollers in damp hair with mousse or other product, heat dried, then cooled and removed. You will achieve different results depending on the size rollers and the type of product, but this usually gives me a "messy" loose curl.

After washing your hair then towel dry it a little and apply mousse in it. Then begin to scrunch your hair. As it drys it will form curls. From there you can style it however you want.

Curl your hair with one of those hot curling things. ( I forgot what they are called, it's the same thing as a straightener but curls instead) && when you go to sleep, the next morning you'll get messy curls.

Ever heard of a pin-curl? take strands of your hair while they are damp and have a light mousse or wet gel in it, twist them individually until it almost hurts your scalp, spin it circular until it lays like a coiled snake on your head, then put a bobbi-pin or 2 in it...continue this with all different sizes of strands until most of the hair is pinned up....either you can sleep on this or you can blow dry it....when dry, take the pins out and finger comb..That's what Mom used to do to me when I was a girl...it still works and is cute.
