I grew up "in the church" but have not gone to church in years. I also began to question things about the book, it's contents, it's validity and was litterly shunned for it. The last time I went to church I asked the preacher.....If god knows all and sees all, why does he allow us to continue the way that we do?
He told me that I needed to work on my faith and read the bible more totally not answering my question.
Christians are really bad at this too. My uncle is a decon and follows christianity blindly. So much to the point that he's drilled into my little cousin that there's only one correct church to be apart of and all the rest are wrong, if you're not a christian then you're not worth talking to ( which goes against the main principals in the first place )
I think that it's good that you question things, how else are you going to make the best decision for yourself. It's your life not theirs.

I am a Christian Pastor and will tell you freely that questioning God is part of the learning curve that many Christians have forgotten.
It is through questioning those things that concern you that god can either direct you to your answer in His Word or by bring you into contact with one that has patience, love, compassion and understanding.
Keep questioning and you will Find God and all knowledge.
May God Bless.

You partially answered your own question. What happened after the Watergate investigation? What happens when people start asking questions about institutions? They are threatening the existence of that institution. If you want a quest, lose the religions and find god.

Your first question should be:
How can you tell God's word from what a person SAYS is God's word?
Human interpretation of "God's word" is rampant and insidious. Heck, even the ten commandments are different depending on the religion, and God wrote those down for us! It is our moral duty to judge anything presented as God's word for truth and purpose.
Since we are made in God's image, we are made with God's inherent nature. This would include the desire to prove, to test, and to experiment. The bible is strewn with examples of trials and tribulations presented by God to encourage man to examine the world for truth, and to find evidence of God's presence themselves. Even Jesus questioned God before his crucifixion. Through questioning God's purpose, Jesus renewed his faith. The only one's to call it arrogant are the one's who fear that what they say is God's "word" really isn't.

It's not arrogant to question God's word... How else are we to learn from him. He knows that we are human and that we will always have questions. I don't believe that God thinks we are being arrogant in questioning God's word. I think that we just need to ask God for Wisdom to understand what he means in his word, and he will reveal it to us. And to those that claim we are judging God or being arrogant in questioning Him really need to look at their own hearts.... and we really need to pray for them.

No it's not!. Those people who told you that kind of answers doesb't seem to understand you.
I have also raised a lot of questions regarding God's Word and I became closer to it, for it became clear to me. Better find persons who would be more open to your questions. I suggest you ask a Catholic priest.

It isn't arrogant to question God. How else would you get your answers about Him and what He's really all about?
Now, if you are drawing conclusions about Him without knowing Him, and declaring Him defective, that's just not smart.

you can question God all you want! Abraham did - he bartered with God and talked to him like a friend.
Just be prepared - when Job did it, God came down and proved who God really was...
The only way to truly understand is to question the things you don't get. Then you'll see the truth.
