There are no definite known causes of Autism and I don't believe that there is any way to tell if your child will have autism. Here are some additional resources if you would like some more information about autism:
Websites:
"Teaching Tips for Children and Adults with Autism" - http://www.autism.org/temple/tips.html
"Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew" - http://www.southflorida.com/sfparenting/sfe-sfp-autism,0,6196233.story
Autism Society of America - http://www.autism-society.org/
Books:
"Your Life is Not a Label: A Guide to Living Fully with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome" by Jerry Newport
"You're Going to Love This Kid!: Teaching Students With Autism in the Inclusive Classroom" By Paula Kluth
"Not Even Wrong: Adventures in Autism" By Paul Collins
(Includes some history of autism - this may help answer some of your questions)

Best you can do is develop healthy habits during pregnancy and provide a healthy, clean environment after birth. And, even then, no promises. There are genes linked to some cases of autism.

i know someone is gonna post "ITS THE VACCINES!"
some of the older vaccines use to increase risk very very slightly, but the newer vaccines that are currently in use are safe
