There are large amounts of people who participate in forums like this, whom have regard for neither grammar nor spelling. Most of the time I don't care, as long as the sentence is decipherable. Sometimes however, the disregard is so blatant that I can't even figure out what the person is saying. Please, PLEASE stop.

Pedantic? Perhapse I am, but the rules of grammer are there for a reason. Bending them is fine, as long as communication is not interrupted, but when the rules are so broken that you cannot understand what the person is saying, then the whole point is lost.

If the text is understandable then I don't care, I don't get annoyed by spelling and grammar mistakes in it. But if the text makes no sense or was clearly written by someone who was just lazy to write right, it annoys me and I don't even answer such questions. Why should I take time out to answer their question if they didn't bother writing the question right?
And texts like "wot can u say 2 ppl..." annoy me. I can understand that people shorten words like that when writing text messages on their mobiles, because they have to keep them short, but when they do it online it's just pure lazy and annoying.
If people just don't know grammar and spelling well then I don't mind. Not everyone finds it easy to learn that stuff and lots of people on Yahoo!Answers don't have English as their first language, so it's normal that they make some mistakes. I don't blame them.

I agree. I can handle the poor grammar as long as I can understand what they are trying to say. I feel like tearing my hair out over the ones that are just mumbo jumbo. In large part the responsibility for the poor grammar falls on the schools. I was appalled at how little importance was place on spelling and grammar when my sons were in school. We insisted on the proper use of the English language at home.

I teach high school American History and I agree; the level of grammatical illiteracy is shocking. Many students do not think that writing properly is important any more. I remind them that their future employer will not be literate in Ebonics, street talk, or other divergent forms of ignorance. In the real world where people make a lot of money, spelling and grammar are extremely important. I suppose it will take being turned down for eight or nine jobs before they understand that simple fact.

I completely agree with you! It's a pity and a shame that more people out there don't realize that poor grammar can keep you in the poorhouse! It's been tested and proven that those whouse poor grammar are much less likely to be called back to a place of business after an interview, thus resukting in *gasp* no job!

As long as I can tell what they are saying I don't have a problem, but I dislike those whose grammar and spelling is so bad that it is ineligible. If they have bad grammar it just shows that they were too lazy to go back and check what they wrote.

It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling all over. They won't stop until education is received. Well, sometimes that doesn't work either, I realize. I guess not everyone can be good at grammar and spelling.

haha. you placed the word nor into your sentence. I rarely see that other than when I type/write things.
I totally agree though. Grammar is becoming an option when it should be a necessity.
But hey, people speak and type differently.

ah it aint too bad. I reckon they can say what they like.
On the other hand it really depends on when and where. If it is in good fun and humor, then it does not bother me.
Now if our President, the man who runs our country sounds like the first line of my post, then yes I have a slight issue with it.
