i really dont belive in luck but u really shouldnt cuz if it reminds u of the other cat than u could get upset or give it away and every animal wants some1 2 love them. try 2 give the cat a different name so... like when this n runs away or dies u wont name any other cat the same thing then when that n dies u might name the next 1 the same thing and so on and so furth. maybe u should try 2 get a different type of animal like an unusey animal and try 2 get other people 2 adopt that animal so maybe the populion will grow cuz more people care bout it

I don't think it's bad luck... but it's not very original. I'm sure you can come up with something different! It also kind of takes the value away from the individual cat - it's like saying it's not even important enough to you for it to have it's own name. You'll be constantly comparing it to the deceased cat.

I don't believe it's bad luck .I think it is a way for the cat to live on and remember it .

Just as bad, to me, when you name your second son the same name as your first son.
I think that is sad and sick. Name it a different name.
If your cat was a male named Blackie, then name the second cat Negron or Darkie or Midnight or just Night.
Name it something similar, but not the same.
Really.

Doesn't make a bit of difference. No matter what name I give my cats, I always end of giving them a series of nicknames which I usually prefer to use. For instance, we have three cats. Their given names are "Star", "Snickers", and "Zachary". I usually call Star, "Starry Star-Star", Snickers becomes "Snickee", or "Snickee-snicker-poopers" or "Snick-snick", and Zachary becomes "Zacker-McQuaker", "Mr. Fluffy", or even "Mr. Fluffy-Scratch-and-Stink." You get the idea. No, it's okay to rename another cat after a beloved feline friend of the past. I've done it myself. Go nuts. ---sincerely, UCSteve

Luck?

Hmmm... How 'bout if you name your cat the same name as a recently-passed relative? *heh*

I can't see how a name can affect "luck".

Yes! My Aunt keeps doing that with her dogs, The first one was Tippy. After he died she named her new dog Tippy II and it died from some strange disease, a year later she got a new dog and called him... yep you guessed it... Tippy III. Just about 2 weeks ago it was in the vet hospital for a week and had to be operated on.
I wouldn't do it. BAD LUCK

I think it's a good idea, because it's a good way of remembering the past cat, hopefully without bringing back painfull memories.
