since you apparently don't give a damn about your family and your husband sounds great, can I have him? I bet you don't cook either and make them eat junk food.

My family doesn't eat at the kitchen table much either, however, I do notice that we learn more about each other when we do. We discuss how our days went and it actually gives us a reason to talk. Usually we sit in the living room and eat on TV trays watching whatever is on but I do like to eat all together a few times a week or so. I'm not sure how open your son is with you about what he does during the day and at school or any of that but my son tends to tell me more when we all sit down to eat together. We take turns going first and telling from start to finish what we did that day. If it wasn't for the dinner table, the usual answer to the question "So how was your day, What did you do today?" is "I don't know" or "nothing". Give it a shot, don't knock your husband for wanting family time at the dinner table. It good family building time!! You just might find that you get to know your family better. Good luck! Brandi =)

Sometimes its not all about you and what you like or want. If it's something that is really important to him and you love him WHY not oblige him? Maybe come to some sort of an agreement, maybe like eating together 3-4 times during the week. It's a great chance to connect together as a family by talking about your day or whatever over a good meal. Alot of families connect this way together at the end of the day. If you have nothing to say to eachother then there is something really wrong, btw. Sometimes you just do things for the people you love because THEY like to do them and that's what it's all about. Seriously what is it gonna hurt? If there is some tv show on you are afraid to miss then TIVO it or something. No air condintioning? Buy a fan or two! Before you know it you're son will be out of the house and you can watch tv until your eyes fall out. I think I like your husbands thinking...Thank GOD you are married to a smart man who cares about AND wants to spend time with his family and stop making yourself number one priority all the time.

Yes you're wrong because it means a lot to your husband and child. When you got married you lost your right to do whatever you want, and now you have to do what is in the best interets of your family. Hey, there are a lot worse things than eating together as a family. You can watch TV while you eat on the days when they are busy or not around. It's better than being divorced later. By not granting him this small thing you are showing him you don't care about his feelings. Get a fan!

Why not compromise -- start with a couple nights a week of eating at the table. Make it a fun family ritual; set it nicely, light candles, say a blessing before eating and turn off the tv. I'm with your husband on this one....studies have shown that eating with the tv on contributes to obesity and poor health. But in my own home we do both. My daughter prefers the living room with casual grazing meals -- but I think it's important to have sit down dinners too.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://bitly.im/aMC2g
The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

How hard is it to just sit with your family for half an hour before you all go your separate ways? Enjoy what little time you have as a family together. I think that it's okay if you stop watching tv for just a little bit every day. Hopefully you understand that.

Maybe your husband is trying to promote family time. Taking your family out to dinner or to a movie would work just as well from the way you make it sound. If there's no conversation, try to start one. You can start by asking how everybody's day was.

Family time is one of the most important things in life. You should try to like the dinners together. TV will always be around your family (especially your children) won't be.

your hubby is rite. dinner at the table with the family is a good thing, especially since you have kids. it should be the special time of the day when all of you get together and talk about your day or about anything in general. it's good, maybe not for you, but for your child. it gives him a sense of belonging. and that is very important for a growing child.
stop being so childish and thinking only about yourself. this is not about you, it's about your kid.
