no, 10 fingers on each hand to ease typing and using various hand-held devices. and no toes or legs for that matter - everybody will be floating around on antigrav pads, grafted in at birth.

Yes...organisms only evolve from mutations in the gene pool that prove to be beneficial to the organism and cause it to produce more offspring. Even though the 6 finger gene is dominant over a recessive 5 finger gene, there are not enough people in the world to cause an increase in number of fingers because having six fingers is extremely uncommon. Not to mention that since chromosomes are paired with their homologous chromosome, there is always instances in which the dominant gene is not expressed even when is it present.

Yes, there is no reason to think that humans are evolving, we are a very large population and very mobile, animals with that behavior and success have very little change over time.

However that is qualified with the answer that by then we are likely to have the ability to choose our own appearance. That said it is not likely that our taste in appearance will run to the four fingered then any more then it does now. So we will have five fingers.

think about this... the earth is four and a half billion years old. Humans have been here what... a couple hundred thousand years? Every single day, approx. 250 species become extinct. Humans do not have exclusive rights to walk the earth. We may be nothing more than fossils in a million years.

I believe that with evolution humans will have opposing thumbs still, but three fingers on each hand, and will lose the pinky toes, as the only thing they seem to be good for is stubbing on the nightstand......

Well, I hope not, since we have 10 toes, 8 fingers, and two thumbs right now, why go backwards? Really, there is no telling. It will all depend on the evolution of society and environment. Wait and see......

we will be born with five fingers, but we will probably cut some of them off - years ago people did not pluck eyebrows, shave pubes etc, so i guess that this grooming will go further and further over years, and not only it will be absolutely necessary to shave all hairs on body, but also any person who will be excentric enough to keep all fingers and toes and who will spend less than 4 hours in the bathroom to get groomed in the morning to go out will be considered a pathetic loser who doesnt care for their appearance.

chances are we will. not only do all other hominid mammals on the planet still have 5 appendages on each hand and foot, but many other animals do.. i dont think that evolution will change the number.. but perhaps the fingers will become longer to accomadate more delicate work... like typing.. rather than swinging an ax or fist fighting.

If you have ever seen Phil of the Future, you might have seen the episode of when Phil has to step on tomatoes but because he is from the future, he only has 4 toes. I don't think that will happen because God had an intention of making us that way.
