Marxists are making war on christianity because it gets in the way of their agenda of genocide, slavery and generalized depravity and oppression they have planned for us.
The thing to understand here is it is only a tiny handful of people. But, those people are monitoring the boards pretty much 24/7 and writing those nasty comments. They are trying to present the image that most people in our culture are anti-christian, when in fact, most americans are devout.
This is very similar to what they do with all other forms of media...movies, newspapers, TV, magazines. They are trying to control people via these modes of communication....and failing miserably I might add. The internet is a real thorn in their side. Every time they try to lie through other media, the truth comes out over the internet. This both informs people of what is actually going on and shows quite glaringly that their newspapers, TV, magazines etc. are suspect.
Just ignore them.

They don't understand and I think they are scared that we as Christians may indeed be right. They are a little scary in their comments and I wonder if they even know that blasphemy is so very wrong.
If they don't agree, that is OK, but don't be so crude and ugly with the comments.
Sometimes people just have to talk and make comments even if they have no clue what they are talking about. Take some of the questions on here. They are just wanting to stir things up. Some of the questions are so ridiculous, you have to know they don't really believe some of the things they ask.
And trying to say a verse in the Bible and take it in a total different meaning just because they think they can. If they read the verses around the ones they are pulling out, they would know they were wrong in their interpretation.
Sorry- I am on a soap box, I posted a similar question the other day and got some pretty ugly responses.
Good luck!

Your last statement, "If Christianity was insignificant, why the anger?", is your answer. Christianity obviously is significant, in spite of all the negative behaviors by a few lukewarm Christians who may have used "being a Christian" as a moneymaker or a justification for their behavior.
As you are probably aware, being a Christian is more about living like Christ, and less about "being right."
It is discouraging to be bombarded with insults and derision. But isn't that what Christians, including JESUS, have experienced when they stood fast?
People will test your faith, but will not break it, if you keep focused on the LORD.
As several have said that Christians follow people around nagging (witnessing), perhaps the best way to get the message out to non-believers, is to BE an example of CHRIST. We can win people over "without a word."

I'm Jewish, and tell me we don't get a lot of grief and disdain from people of other faiths! Heck, 6 million of us were murdered 60 years ago in Europe and many more throughout the last 5000 years.
Those of us who bash Christianity do it because those who post on boards like this don't pose questions they want real answers to, they post preachy stuff that often can be easily disputed as rubbish. Things like "the one true religion...."
What Christians don't get is how incredibly pompous and offensive it is to those who have different beliefs when you imply we need to be saved and that only you have the truth.
ALL religions are based on faith. Faith means you believe it but there is no proof. For every argument you can make that there is a God or that Jesus is an important diety, I can make 10 more that imply both are fiction.
Niether point can be proven.
Freedom of speech applies to everyone even those that espouse garbage or hate.
When you post a question, you are going to either get answers (which you may or may not like) or a debate.
My religion encourages debate and freedom of thought. Most Christians view debate as destructive and freedom of thought as dangerous.
More EVIL has been done in the name of Christianity over the past 2000 years than for any other cause. It has murdered people, destroyed families and native cultures.
There are a lot of us that feel Christianity is EVIL.
You don't need to agree, but you asked for free speech. Welcome to it!

"People not only disagree with christians, they seem to be outwardly angry. What have we done to you? We have tried to share our belief with you"
While I don't advocate open hostility or hatred, I think you have largely answered your own question. Religion, or lack thereof, is a deeply personal issue. Many, many people do not appreciate having someone elses religious beliefs "shared" with them, particularly when that "sharing" often takes the form of "trying to convince", "chastising", "preaching", etc. etc.
I have friends who are church-going Christians. We have no problems, because they understand they have their beliefs, I have mine, and if I want to know the details of theirs, I'll ask. However, throughout my life there have been a steady stream of Christians (and I single out Christians because I cannot ever remember someone from another religion doing so) who felt it was their duty to teach me that I was wrong because I did not believe as they did. Some churches will even say, "Well of course we do! That's what we're supposed to do!" And if that is the case, there is the answer to your question. If a stranger followed you around all day telling you to eat your vegetables, or that you really should exercise more, no matter how well-intentioned they were, you wouldn't like that much either. I have not asked anyone to try to teach me their religion, and anyone who feels the need to foist it upon me anyway is going to quickly get on my nerves. To this end, view the large number of questions posed here that boil down to, "How can non-Christians be so stupid as to not realize they are wrong?" Perhaps *that* is why some Christians, even well meaning ones, are met with hostility...

The reason most people are hostile towards Christians is because a lot of Christians who come out in public to preach or go into open forums of discussion on the topic are often very rude and closed-minded. Often instead of an open discussion of question and answer, they simply preach hellfire and damnation, subsequently judging anyone who doesn't see everything exactly as they interpret it as a "sinner" and telling them they're "going to hell." Obviously, this offends people quite a bit. Most Christians who come into these 'discussions,' which is in quotes because at this point, it is hardly a discussion, are very poor examples of what the origional doctrine dictates as a "Christian," and after a while, it becomes a instantaneous judgment to some people that ALL Christians are horrible people who want only to tell you how wrong you are and that you're going to hell. Having said this, I feel, however, that I have a responcibility to say that not all Christians are like this. Though in the world of the internet it is hard to find honest Christians who really want only to debate the finer matters of their religion (i.e. the thousands of contradictions and errors in the Bible, doctrines that do not agree with human nature, etc.), occassionally, you do find a Christian who has an honest question and simply is looking for an answer.
If you really want to know the true reason why there is so much disdain and dislike for Christians nowadays, look at your last paragraph. Saying things like "When the great tribulation comes and it will be very, very late, I wonder what you will say?, I wish I had listened before it was too late," is not going to help your cause. It only serves to make those of us who are not Christians or of a Christian-based religion angrier. You must remember, like 'pdawson' said, it's like someone following you around telling you to eat your veggies, or excersise more, or for me, to quit smoking. After about 10 minutes of someone saying "Quit Smoking! Quit Smoking! Quit Smoking!" over and over, not only do I REALLY want a smoke, but I'm ready to strangle them, too. Just remember, when you constantly preach your Christian rederick to someone, not only do they begin to hate you and ALL Christians, they're also being pushed farther and farther from your religion, completely negating your efforts.
As far as free speach goes, I have the freedom of speech to stand on a street corner with a sign saying "All Christians Will Face The Feather Of Maat in the Afterlife!" I'm sure it would annoy the heck out of a whole lot of Christians, some would even get very angry with me. It's the same situation that Christians face when they tell us who are of other religions that we're going to hell for not believing in Jesus when we die. You have freedom of speech. Just remember the consequences of what you say.
I hope this is helpful.
PS: The spell checker on this isn't working right now, so I appologize for any spelling errors.

There are the insulters and profaners here, but ignore them or report them. However, this is a Religion category, not a Praise Christianity category, so you should not expect everyone here to agree with you.
As far as Islam bashing, there's plenty of that here, but I think that Christianity is the predominant religion of the English speaking world, so that seems to be the focus here.
Also, the majority of the non-Christians here were raised in Christian households in a highly Christian society and aren't as familiar with the details of Islam and other religions.
And there's just as many angry Christians here insulting and name calling here as non-Christians.
If you question your beliefs and the result is your beliefs become stronger, that's great. I only ask that you be open to those questions.

Ask yourself the same question, but reverse it. Why do Christians think they've cornered the market on religion? If you disagree with Chrisitanity you are automatically labeled as a bad person.
Freedom of religion is only free if you are Christian apparently....if you aren't you are a heathen who is going to hell.
What Christians have "done to us:" They've spouted the rhetoric that only one religion and one god is good....the rest are evil. They have no respect for any religion but their own. This is ridiculous and other religions are sick of it. It's like saying (to quote an answer I posted previously) that English is the only "right" language because that is the one you grew up with.
I am aware that many religions are trying to corner the market....depending upon their area of the world....but it seems that Christians think that theirs is now the US's religion and are trying to impose their morals through legal action....which is a violation of our constitutional rights. I have no respect for this.

Because the liberal media has made the church out to be oppressive and evil. Part of this is using perverted, child molesting priests as a blanket description for the whole church. Leftists have also portrayed every use of the word God by the church as a way to force the Christian religion on non-Christians.

Welcome to the pre great tribulation time..Mankind is just warming up to really show God how much they hate him. Christianity only offends because God is real and has a real claim on the world. Jesus is Lord and no one can change that. Like they said in the Bible..You might say that the story below is offensive and hard, but Jesus said it beforehand so we could take heed and not commit this error. He came to save us, but also teach us the consequences of our actions
Luke 19:14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
Luke 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

you have said it yourself that you tried to share your beliefs with others ,people of other faiths have their own beliefs and you insult them by telling them that yours is the only way where they believe otherwise, your religion is the only one that goes out to recruit new members ,where other religions are not aloud to do so,also christians have been killing people a lot longer than others ,persecution is something that christians are very good at they have persecuted jews muslims budhists almost every other religion.
