Depending on the size and number of guest he/she will have to serve and are you proving all the tools of the trade. A fair price to expect is $ 2.00/ per person with a $ 100.00 min and all tips! So unless you live in a high priced place it won't hurt so bad. One last thing is check the phone book for a bartenders school nearby you can get one of the advanced students for pennies if you don't mind a few bumbles. If you really want to show off hire one of there instructors and get the whole show w/the bottle tossing and everything. Great stuff at parties people really love it and they drink up just to get another. No one ever forgets THOSE parties! Good luck!

The best way to do it is to guarantee them a certain amount...at least $300. Then put a tip jar on the bar. Tell all your friends to take care of the bartender. At the end of the night, count up all the tips. It probabaly won't cost you anything... they'll have more than enough in the jar.
