There were many religions before Christianity. Judaism is one, just the Old Testament. Other religions have multiple Gods and Goddesses. Some have none. Christianity is not the only and not the first and maybe not even the right religion.

Well, you had monotheism (belief of one god) which was only practiced by Jews at the time. Every one else practiced polytheism,or the worship of a number of Gods.(Rome, Greece and the Germanic tribes to the North)
The Latin root for god (not just the christian god, but any divine figure) is deo, (Day-o) and the romance languages got the word "God" from that root. For example, in French, the word for God is "Dieu" (Dew) English is a Germanic language, so the root of our word "God" must be Germanic, though I don't know it off the top of my head.
In other monotheistic religions like Judaism and Islam, the name "God" doesn't translate, for Jews, it's Yahweh and in Islam the name for god is Allah, no matter the worshiper's native tongue.
As for god being all powerful, I suppose that God is considered all powerful because, unlike in polytheism, all of the abilities of the divine are placed into one being. Hope that answered your question.

As a triunist, Jesus is only a third of the total God Head. He was brought into the world to full fill prophecy, and to die and raise again.(that is what separates him from all of the other religions of the world: He raised himself from the dead.) Before Christ came on to the scene the main "christian" (and I use that very liberally) type of religion was Judaism. They worshiped God the father and waited for the Messiah, aka, Jesus. BUT they didn't realize who he was and are still waiting for Him to return for them. So before Christ came Judaism was it, That is what we as Christians look back to for example. I hope this is not to vague for most of you to understand. But if you need more or deeper thought concerning this you know how to get in touch.

Every religion today most likely has some aspect of an ancient belief in its philosophy or practice, but to say that one particular religion is the oldest is naive. The reality is-- we do not know. We have no basis for comparison. Most reference books list Hinduism as the oldest world religion. This is probably because Hinduism has the oldest recorded roots, which lie in Dravidianism. Dravidianism is estimated to have been practiced around 6,000 to 3,000 BCE and as such predates the Sumerian, Egyptian, and Babylonian cultures.

There were several religions prior to the birth of Christ. If you are asking about the beginning of the Christian faith, I would say that 2000 years ago, most would have been Jews who worshipped God

People worshiped God before Jesus came to Earth. He has been a superpower since Adam and Eve. Nobody made Him a superpower. He established His power Himself.

People worshipped GOD in temples before Jesus came to earth and up until his death on the cross. Prior to large temples, they would set up alters to worship and sacrifice to GOD.
The church did not come into being until after the ressurection of Jesus. He then charged his apostles with spreading the word.
THey started the seven churches spoken of in the book of revelation.

God still spoke to people through prophets. They worshipped amongst themselves, enjoying fellowship.
