Don't listen to what that other person said and try drinking, for christ's sake. That's not going to help you and it might make you even more manic. Whether you want to or not, you need to admit that you might be bipolar. There are online assessment tests for this kind of thing. I'm providing you with a link to one of them. Just be honest with the questions when you take it, no one is going to know what you got except you. It is not meant to be an online diagnosis, just an evaluation in your own mind that might give you some idea of if this is a problem in your life and how it's impacting you.
There are a few herbal things you can take. For one thing you might try a GABA supplement. You can buy it at vitaminshoppe.com or from GNC or a health food store. It will help to calm you...I've found it works wonders for me. St. John's Wort is often suggested to combat depression, but there has been increasing evidence that it is NOT good for people who are bipolar, so I would suggest you strongly avoid any recommendations to try it. A lot of doctors DO recommend that you try taking Omega 3 fish oil. It has been shown in studies to be quite promising in the treatment of bipolar. In the meantime it is great for you to continue to exercise and keep up with your regular diet of eating healthy foods.
Here's what one person had to say about fish oil: "I have started taking Omega-3 fish oils to help me with my bipolar disorder. I am currently taking a total of 9000 mgs per day broken up into 3 doses. I found out about them from a doctor here in Massachusetts at one of the country's leading psychiatric facilities, McLean Hospital in Belmont, Ma."
Make sure that you aren't taking cod liver oil--this can be toxic in large doses. You also should take it with vitamins C and E.
However, please just keep in mind that whatever you might think about mental disorders it is a chemical imbalance in the brain, and if these things don't work then your best bet is to take the appropriate medication. It will even out your moods. Please at least give it some consideration and think about seeing a doctor.
I wish you the best of luck.

If you view depression or bipolar disorder as a medical condition (which is absolutely is) then the best treatment IS medication. If you need glasses, you'd wear them, if you had diabetes, you'd take your insulin. People are so against medicating the medical condition called depression when it really is an extremely effective way to treat it. There may be side effects which often go away and sometimes it takes trying a few different medication to find the right one but it really does help. Bipolar disorder is genetically linked so you could have inherited it and yes it could be your birth control pills which would be worth looking into trying a different type or a lower dosage. But don't discount the usefulness of anti depressants. Also, for a quick relief of depressive symptoms, exercise is always a good "drug of choice" :)

Bi-polarity so far has not been conducive in studies to be hereditary. However, it's not completely unlikely. You will have to come off of your birth control, that's the first thing the doctor will tell you to do. And then keep a journal of your day's emotions and how many minutes between full emotion change. I will also suggest you take a pregnancy test, as this could be a possibility. Again, it's just exactly the first steps your doctor would take.
After you've done initial leg work, and still get no answers/relief- present the procedural outcome to your physician for evaluation. He/She can take it from there with a more precise diagnosis.
Good luck!

Mood disoders (bipolar being one of them) can be inherited, and women are more prone to depression than men.
You go running, but you don't do it without shoes. Shoes are not "natural." Similarly, you ought to have your mind open to medication even though they are not "natural." Just like running shoes, medications help.

try drinking, but not a lot, and with your friends... just try to be around people you care about such as friends and maybe family, also you HAVE to talk to someone about it, a best friend or someone like that, thats the best way to get out of such a situation, and it works 99% of the time

You need to find a great psychiatrist to help you deal with it. And he will give you limited medications. As you improve you don't need the meds anymore. GOOD LUCK...BEEN THERE DONE THAT
