I assume you mean "Cristal."

The website below offers the prices of some bottles of Cristal. These prices range from $200-$300 a bottle.

I have had the privelage to drink Cristal on numerous occasions and I find that it is not all that great. It is rather dry and bitter.

Here's some additional information about Cristal from Wikipedia: Cristal is the name of a prestigious Champagne produced by Louis Roederer that is easily recognized by its clear ("crystal") bottle, anti-UV cellophane wrapper, and gold label. It was first created in 1876 for Alexander II of Russia, according to legend because the tsar was afraid of assassins concealing weapons inside an ordinary translucent wine bottle. It is prominently known for being used as a status symbol by rappers, who make frequent reference to it in their music, also calling it "cris" or "crissy". A typical price is $200 or more [1] (around £100) for a bottle. In the UK prices are around £200-£250 per bottle.

did you mean cristal? anyways, this whole story is ridiculous. they are charging you to open your own bottle, they are responsible for it. seriously, how do you know they didn't pour it out for themselves then break the bottle? why didn't she open it at the table? servers open wine bottles at the table, i've never had an open bottle brought out to me. i can't believe you didn't even get a free dinner and i'm sure they had a nicer bottle of champagne than an $18 one, especially if they have a wine list. i've worked in the service industry for a long time and must have opened hundreds of bottles of champagne and i've NEVER encountered a defective bottle. i would file complaints with everyone, yelp, the better business bureau, every single review site, blog, twitter, local news stations, etc. if you know a lawyer, get them to write a letter on official letterhead. it was because of their negligence that you suffered a monetary loss as well as ruining a special occasion. i'm so sorry for what happened to you, this kind of stuff makes my blood boil.
