the motor is for a sewage pumping station.

8.5x1000=8500 watts. 415 volts. W=V*A A=W/V

so 8500watts/415 volts =20.48... Amps

this is the basic relationship between watts volts and amps. I dont know if the 3 phase motor part would change that answer.

I = kW / PF x E x 1.73

A = 8500/.8 x 415 x 1.73

= 14.8 amps

This is assuming a power factor of .8 which is typical for a squirrel cage motor of this size.

Dont forget - RMS volts leads to RMS amps.
