The RX 400h is a wonderful vehicle.
It was the world's first Luxury Hybrid Vehicle. Most people think hybrids are slower but Lexus Hybrids are performance hybrids. The Rx400h offers 270 horsepower from the same engine in the RX330 which only has 238. The electric motors give instant torque so, if you want the power it is there for the asking.
Also the RX400h FWD model gets 31mpg city/27 mpg highway. This is great mpg for an SUV. Roughly, your looking at get 300 to 400 miles per tank, so you will fill-up less often. Now you may notice these, number are backwards that is due to using electric motors only for slower speeds and bumper to bumper traffic; city driving.
The RX 400h is seamless acceleration and shifting as it has a CVT transmission. A continuously variable transmission... There are no gears like you a used to having, it is one smooth operation. And the vehicle puts out emission equal to that of a 2 liter 4 cylinder vehicle.
If you have not done so... go for a test drive. You WILL be pleased!!!

We've had our RX400h for about 9 weeks and we're very pleased. I'm averaging a combined 26 mpg driving a mix of city/hwy. My RX330 (3 years old) was avg 16 mpg.
The leases they were offering were better than the RX350.
This is our third vehicle in the RX line and we've been pleased with all of them. My only complaint and it is minor, is that since I don't need to fill it every week, I'm on an irratic gas schedule. As a result I wish there was a beeper or buzzer for when the need gas light comes on. On the RX330 you had a button on the console that could tell you how many miles you had left until you needed to refill your tank. That feature is not on the RX400h.
Also, not sure why they didn't make a hands free phone an option on this car (although it is available on the other Lexus cars or Toyotas).
I got Navy Blue with a grey pinstripe.

I ought to accept as true with each and every person so some distance and am no longer in all probability bought that Hybrid is any further clever then gas, probable worse then the recent diesels. except she is going to be hauling around a team of persons the RX350 isn't an truly environmentally friendly motor vehicle. seems such as you have a good number of money to spend, yet a Civic/Prius what have is the main suitable motor vehicle for an adolescent and the ambience. the two have a good number of protection helpful factors and get great gas mileage, at the same time as nonetheless having room for 3 grownup passengers. however in case you ought to get a great SUV, the RX400H is the main environmentally friendly on the line. the different could be to get gas burning smoke spewing Benz ML500 this is between the worst polluters on the line.

Why not just have the V6 version if you give a crap about the environment or the V8 if you want the power. Or, and heres a really contrevesial idea, why not just buy a bog standard saloon that has no fancy 4 wheel drive (that chucks out more carbon) better handling, styling and is a damn sight safer in a crash.

Get one for the power, not for the gas mileage. You won't save money by buying a luxury hybrid.
I own and RX300 and am very happy with it.

If you want to make yourself feel (environmentally) good about buying a very expensive SUV, that doesn't handle as well as an Acura MDX, RDX, or a Honda Pilot (at $20,000) less, I say go for it!
