Today I got a call from a friend and she was telling me about her husband in Iraq and that things were well. She asked what I was up to and I told her about this "immigration" section and that I felt the need to "educate" and spread humanity. She stopped talking....and then said.....and I quote "YOU NEVER DID THAT FOR US".....WOW......blown away....completely. She not only meant soldiers, she meant wives, families, friends.....etc. So I am humbled and newly focused........and to end with a question. Have you forgotten that we have sent troops back and forth to Iraq for 4 years now.....or are you more worried about someone peeing on your tomatoes?

I fully support our troops and the spectacular job they are doing, and I support any and all efforts to secure the border and get illegal immigration under control. Being multi - faceted allows me to do both at the same time...

As I happen to live along the Mexican border, I have seen illegals come into the U.S. in groups. It's hard to forget the illegal activities that filter through as well. Most will say, "if it's so horrible then move!" But a fact of the matter is that I live in El Paso, which is one of the safest cities in the U.S., and obviously crime is not a problem- so it seems. Has anybody bothered asking where the drugs go? Drugs usually lead to other crimes, most of them violent.

Earlier this year Deputies were targets of an attempt to cross "something" into the U.S. (There has been little dispute as to what the "something" is, and for the sake of not opening another can of worms we'll leave it at that.)

My point being that maybe, just maybe our military needs to help with a problem not just concerning the illegals, or undocumented immigrants (for those that like to be PC).

With military bases in other parts of the world, we have U.S. territory there as well. It's time we choose...do we stay in a land that has been condemned for eons (the site of where Babylon once was is in Iraq, and we all know what happened there according to the Bible), or do we really protect what IS within OUR boundaries?? Also, whose freedom are the troops really keeping safe in Iraq?? HHHMMMM....

I'm not sure what question you're asking, I don't think anyone's forgotten Iraq, but Iraq isn't the only issue going on in the world, either. Illegal immigration is a serious problem in the United States, and taking some concrete action to address it and reduce it is necessary. Mexico has the resources to take care of and employ their own citizens, and if they'd start doing it, that'd be a really great thing for the USA, I think. That goes for other countries, too. If they'd invest more in their own people, there'd be less immigration to america, legal, or otherwise. Their economies would be better, and they wouldn't be at america's door every week, begging alms etc.

I agree, sure ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS ILLEGAL, but that is not the point! We have immigrants coming over here and most of the Americans hate them. I think we should be more focused on important things and they don't just TAKE jobs, even though they should try to legalize themselves before coming here. Why worry about immigrants so much? It is mostly the Mexicans everyone worries about and that is stupid because they aren't terrorists or anything. If an Arab came here or something, then you could worry a little bit more because of 9/11 (Not being racist). I think we should be more worried about the soldiers in Iraq who die to allow us to keep our rights and freedom AND even IF the Mexicans are TAKING ALL THE JOBS, then that isn't something to bi-tc-h about so much. It is about time we start to worry about more important things that are happening.

Get over yourself. You do not use ANY web sites to back up your "education". In a notable amount of your posts you freely say that you have no answer at all and will "get back to the question" (which you have NEVER done). Many of your posts are extremely sarcastic and rude. You tout yourself as a humanitarian but only when it comes to the criminals who illegally enter America. You do your best to mock and humiliate anyone who poses a pro American law position.

I dont feel the need to educate people on this site about the troops in Iraq because I know that they went there voluntarily. Their families knew that could happen, so why let them join the military? Or why marry someone that did? That probably sounds mean, but I dont feel that they have so many people against them either.

Immigration that's THOUGHTLESS has destroyed Rome and countless other countries in history. I don't know where Iraq is headed, but I don't think it's a definitive threat to our Republic....I do think if you migrate millions of primarily uneducated left-leaners you'll see a very huge division in an otherwise evenly distribute idealogical political landscape.

In other words, don't let the country shift left or right to quickly or else your asking for trouble.

Our troops in Iraq or Immigration...

The U.S. government is busy in the Middle East--backing Israel in imposing sanctions to strangle Palestinians for electing an Islamist administration, installing a “national unity” puppet regime in Iraq in defiance of election results, and bullying Iran into giving up its civilian nuclear fuel enrichment program.

Meanwhile...

EVERYWHERE, CROOKED politicians need immigrant labor to keep the economy going, but use foreigners as scapegoats to secure own power--to affirm xenophobia and loyalty of native-born to state.

Seems like business as usual no matter who you give ten points to on answers.yahoo.com or whatever your "humanitarian" aimes might be... tell your friend to get over it. Your work on either issue should be the least of her worries.

I haven't forgotten. On Memorial Day I went on the Military page to send a thank you, and got only one soldier saying ironically that his Memorial Day was going to be just terrific because he got 'to spend it defending your freedom'.

I gave him 10 points, but felt kind of useless.

Any better ideas?

Sqwirlgrl, you misread me. It was an honest question. I meant that as a Vet you might have some real ideas of something to do. I'd like to do something.

However, I think I need to be concerned with my children's education, as well. I don't see why I can't be concerned about both.

Elperro - got it, thanks.
