Blame it on cell phones, without spell check, and lazy kids who have invented an Internet code. ) is smiling, ; is a wink and so on. I like to put my answers in “Word” first so I can check the spelling and the grammar.

Using the spell check is a matter of pride; I don’t like to look like a fool. I have seen a few questions that couldn’t be answered properly because I wasn’t sure what the person really meant. Their language was so confused that several answers could apply. Jay Leno of the Tonight Show delights in showing just how dumb some people are with his “Jay Walking” bits. He then takes the worst and pits them against each other in a game show called The “Jay Walking” All-Stars. The sad part is that more and more Americans, especially some of the younger ones, seem to have lots of qualifications to be one of Jay Leno’s “Jay Walking” All-Stars. I have seen surveys and reports about how many Americans can’t find Iran on a map, or don’t even know the 50 states. Could this be because the teachers are more worried about not getting shot, or wanting to have sex with their students, than teaching?

I don't know --- I wish they would. Either that or get an education.

Yes. I have to fight the urge. Most of the time I give in and mock away. I mean come on, who is going to take you seriously if you tell someone they are a waist of time...urgh!

Do people with grammar- and spelling-errors in their questions really expect us to take them seriously, or are they only looking for advice from other illiterates like themselves? I don't have the urge to mock them but it makes me anxious for the future of our society.

Just like "just me" asked? why do people care so much about spelling?
That's why people don't use the check spelling option. They don't care! These stupid teenagers have gotten used to talking in chat room speak and find it very difficult to actually use complete words, sentences, grammar and punctuations! Yeah, it's lazy. But it's also apathy. They don't care!
It's annoying as hell isn't it???

Some of them are probably too arrogant to think that their spelling could possibly be wrong. Others don't care, and still others like using hip slang and spelling.

Either theyr're in a hurry or they treat it like they're IMing or texting. Hey, at least I can actually understand your question, as oppose to: "y don peeps use chk spell optn when askn ?" lol
I guess I can't really mock yours. ;)

They don't use it because they just don't care. Maybe because no one really knows them, so they don't mind if they come across as dumb. Just a guess. That or they are too lazy. I don't use it, but then I know how to both type AND spell correctly.

I do use it. But most obviously do not.

First I am not the greatest speller so I appreciate the help.

I have noticed that the spell checker is very erratic and is obviously not always working.
