I just posted a question just like this a few days ago.
First you have to define what god is, if god does in fact exist.
People often answer this question by saying god is beyond time and that it is the alpha and omega or that god was always there. Of course neither of those would be answers to your question of where god came from.
Unfortunately, assuming that god is real means that the question can not be answered. If god was created what created gods creator? Does the creator know of it's origins or does it ponder where it came from just as we do. If god created the cosmos are there other cosmoses that god created? Does god have any siblings? Etc... It's circular logic.
If you make god out to be figment then you can say that god was invented by man. This would imply of course that there is no god and that the cosmos, physics and reality are just chance. God would be nothing more than a concept.
I think that the idea of god grew out of mans need to answer why we exist and have free thought. It was Voltaire who said "If god did not exist it would be necessary to invent him." Man kind also tends to create god in it's own image, hence the emotional teenager like deity portrayed in many religions.
If god is real and was not created by another deity or god then the only plausible answer that the human mind could comprehend would be that god was simply formed by chance. Much in the same way that atheists view creation and evolutionists life.
It is unfortunate that people answer why existence exists with another unanswerable question. God did it. Really? Why? Unfortunately you can neither prove nor disprove of the existence of god. No amount of theocratic text quoting can change that since it is also an inherent property of a belief system.
To sum it up either A) God does exist and it's origins can never be answered or B) God does not exist and it was invented by mankind.

In our everyday experience, just about everything seems to have a beginning. In fact, the laws of science show that even things which look the same through our lifetime, like the sun and other stars, are running down. The sun is using up its fuel at millions of tons each second. Since, therefore, it cannot last forever, it had to have a beginning. The same can be shown to be true for the entire universe.
So when Christians claim that the God of the Bible created the entire universe, some will ask what seems a logical question, namely ‘Where did God come from?’
The Bible makes it clear in many places that God is outside of time. He is eternal, with no beginning or end — \ He is infinite! He also knows all things, being infinitely intelligent.
So who created God?
By definition, an infinite, eternal being has always existed — \ no one created God. He is the self-existing one — \ the great ‘I am’ of the Bible.19 He is outside of time — \ in fact, He created time.
You might say, ‘But that means I have to accept this by faith, as I can’t understand it.’
We read in the book of Hebrews, ‘But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him’ (Hebrews 11:6).
But this is not blind faith, as some think. In fact, the evolutionists who deny God have a blind faith — \ they have to believe something that is against real science — \ namely, that information can arise from disorder by chance.
Can you believe in the existence of something that you cannot see? Have you ever seen your own brain? We all believe in many things that we have never seen. Have you ever seen the wind? Have you seen history? We see the effects of the wind, but the wind is invisible. We have records of history, but it is by faith we believe that certain historical events happened. Television waves are invisible, but an antenna and a receiver can detect their presence.
Do you know that you have a receiver? Prior to becoming a child of God, your 'receiver' (your spirit) is dead because of sin (see Ephesians 2:1). You need to be plugged into the life of God, and then you will come alive and be aware of the invisible spiritual realm.
The Christian faith is not a blind faith — \ it is a logically defensible faith. This is why the Bible makes it clear that anyone who does not believe in God is without excuse:
‘For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse’ (Romans 1:20).

God can not be compared to us. He is not like anything else that he created.
So even chicken or egg can not fit, because you are comparing creatures to creator.
The best ever computer today can not tell how the man is created unless the man informs the computer this information.
If you can widen your scope to a heaven that offers what no eye has seen, no ear has heared neither never crossed your brain.
Then you can envision that God who made heaven that you can not imagine is much bigger to our resources (brain, experience, and science) to capture.

He never came into existance. He is. And always was. Its like Allbert Einstein, said "Energy can neither be created nor destroyed"
And you, friend, are learning how to question the world around you. DO NOT let anyone with their words make you feel ignorant or uneducated in your asking of these questions.
Often times, people who know God's word but do not speak in humble truth sound cocky.

the claim that god always exists is what is called "special pleading". you gave an excellent example of special pleading in your question. ill explain it. christians claim that everything in the world (even universe) was created by a god. does that apply to god himself? no.
another example would be like saying that everyone must play by the rules except the rule maker, simply because he made the rules.
special pleading. christians use it alot to justify the existence of their god. ALOT!. if all things were created and complexity (how things are complex and seem to have been built) implies creation...once again if complexity implies creation then god, who must be amazingly complex muist also have been created.
then the special pleading chimes in with christians saying things like "NO! god always existed! god doesent abide by the rules because he MADE them!"
stupid, huh?

If we had that answer, then where would faith in Him come into play. You just have to trust in Him and accept that there will always be things we aren't ready to hear the answer to. I just know that God is who He is, and why or how he came to be doesn't matter. That is what faith is all about beliveing with out proof.
