my mom left me a message today that her b-day is tomorrow (otherwise I won't have had a clue), I'm utterly broke should I still send her a present? Overnight mail?

You could send a belated gift. Give her a call on her b/d and tell her you are getting senile.
Things happen.
Then tell her you love her.

I have never forgotten my mother's birthday, but I have forgotten my own! Do something simple and inexpensive. I was completely broke for my dad's birthday and am at school, so I got some friends of mine together and we called to sing "Happy Birthday." It was cheesy, but heartfelt. If she uses email, send her an ecard.

I never forgotten my Mom's b-day even though I do forget about a lot of things. Just make her a card with a really nice poem in it. Anything you give her that comes from the heart will definitely be appreciated and cherished by your mother.

my mom forgot mine once. My sister phoned to wish me a happy b-day that same day and luckily she remembered.

The best advice is to go to a dollar store and get a nice card and a gift from there. Costs much less, but it isn't about that , it is the thought of her b-day that means more to her.

At least an electronic card, letting her know that you forgot and really did not remember because you are broke and even a card would put you on the street.

Yes my Mum's Birthday is on New Years Day and I have always been too drunk or hungover to remember...I have now made it a habit to call her right on 12 to wish her happy birthday and a happy new year!!

I have. I always mix-up my parents anniversary and my mom's birthday. You can call her and sing her Happy Birthday tomorrow. I think just remembering is the important thing.
