it is not only childish but self centered because the person thats trying to get them is usually miserable because of it. i think people do it for the feeling of being in control.

No, playing hard to get is not childish. In fact, it adds excitement to whoever your pursuing. There should never be anything less than honesty in a relationship. Nothing ever good comes from lying or being deceiving.

It's a defense mechanism, love. People get hurt when they're incredibly honest, or they're so blunt they scare people away. Nobody likes to lay on a box spring, we all like memory foam because it's softer! Playing games eases the pain if rejection comes right off the bat. And it makes things more interesting. You're best friends with the people you know everything about. You're attracted to the people you want to find out more about.

Playing hard to get is definitely over-rated.
A deeper maturity is required to understand that honesty is the way to go.
Honestly.....Don't we have enough problems with getting to know each other, without having to struggle through a maze of game playing and half-truths?

in a word YES!!! I hate how women feel it necessary to play games. What ever happened to I like you, you like me...lets go to dinner. These games are so childish
I play no games, I always speak my heart and never hold back or bring up walls.

YES, VERY! I've found that most women are liars, good ones. They know what they want and/or who, and they know if they plan on sleeping with someone very early into meeting the person. They simply like to mess with people's heads, it gives them a sense of power or control.
