...You get more pollutants from car exhaust walking down the street then you do from a cigarette. Or sitting around a bon fire. Obese people do harm others by being bulbous. I have dings in my car door from the fat lady who can't get out of her door in a normal sized parking lot, I have had to share airplane seat with people who spill over into mine, and our health care system is taxed by uninsured people who kill themselves one Twinkie at a time. Oh, and I don't smoke, I love animals, and I have never coughed/gaged at another person.

I'm a smoker and this happens all the time. The funny thing is that it happens outdoors and about 6 feet away. I'm fine with it, because I realize that it is not healthy for people to breath in second-hand smoke. An obese person may cause you some grief, but they tend to have a harder time giving up food, then I do giving up my cigs. Try a little patience with them. They've probably had a lifetime of ridicule without adding the gagging sound. Smokers normally don't give a damn, they don't give a damn about their lungs, let alone yours. Hope this gave you a little insight!!

Trust me, obese people get plenty of gagging sounds, oinking sounds, gestures looks, and about anything else rude and crude. I am glad you don't participate, plenty of others do.

Most people who are overweight, fat, but short of obese, can go on a diet, exercise, get therapy, and lose weight to be healthier.

Once a person is obese, it is more difficult, and more dangerous, to do so, and the matter is more complicated, but still possible, perhaps not to be thin, but to drop some weight and be more healthy.

However, there are people, more than you may think, who have developed metabolic imbalances, illnesses, and diseases, that prevent them from exercising, from losing weight. Not all obese people eat twinkies (or the equivalent). Not all obese people are food addicts. And many obese people eat less than you do. But they have complicating factors that put and/or keep the weight on, including sometimes, the medications that help some of their conditions.

So, knowing this, how do you distinguish one from another? Unless you know the person, you probably can't. So while you might feel ok insulting someone who can take matters into their own hands and just lose the weight if they wanted to; would you feel the same insulting someone who is ill and whose weight is yet another symptom of their illness? How about erring on the side of mercy?

You seem to have a lot of bad luck around obese people. If your car gets so many dings from fat ladies don't park close to the white line.

To do either is rude and crude, and I'm glad you don't do them. Some people have medical problems that make them obese (such as thyroid disease). Smokers (who pay heavy taxes, and cut years off their lives) can hardly even smoke outdoors anymore.

Yesterday, someone on this site said that scented candles had more pollutants than cigarettes.

Oh and driving your car isn't doing any damage to anyone...correct? It kills me that people have to continually look down their noses at those who are less than perfect than themselves. By the way:

I have dings in my car from skinny drivers.....

Skinny passengers fall asleep on my shoulder on planes...

Those with eating disorders Anorexia) cost the health system

It's not polite to do either. The liberal media has made villians out of everyone who smokes that too many people feel justified in confronting or attacking them. They feel morally superior. BTW, I do not smoke.
