Why do people love red wine if it turns your teeth and tounge black... is there some fancy way that you are supposed to drink it?

The coloring comes from what gives the wine its red color. People love red wine because of its complex flavors.

There are certain varieties that stain more than other, but usually one has to drink -- or taste a lot -- to stain your mouth.

I have tasted more than 100 red wines in a morning in a competition and had stained teeth and lips, but I was swirling the wines in my mouth and then spitting (not swallowing).

But drinking a few glasses of red wine with dinner doesn't noticeably stain my teeth.

It's a sign your tounge is going to fall off....he he...

naw it's the tannins in the wine that does it...

here you are (quoted from Wikipedia.com)

"Tannins (mainly condensed tannins) are also found in wine, particularly red wine. Tannins in wine can come from many sources and the tactile properties differ depending on the source. Tannins in grape skins and seeds (the latter being especially harsh) tend to be more noticeable in red wines, which are fermented while in contact with the skins and seeds.

Modern winemakers take great care to minimize undesirable tannins from seeds by crushing grapes gently to extract their juice. Pressing the grapes results in press wine which is more tannic and might be kept separately. Wines can also take on tannins if matured in oak or wood casks with a high tannin content. Tannins play an important role in preventing oxidation in aging wine and appear to polymerize and make up a major portion of the sediment in wine."

Red Wine Black Tongue

because of the tannins (they react with your saliva) and the antocian (the red color in wine). An easy way to rinse your mouth after drinking red is actually to drink a bit of white vino(work on stains as well).

Wine doesn't stain teeth, it stains plaque. No offense, but if you brush your teeth more, it won't be as bad.
