I don't want to put black tie or lounge suit

Specify "formal attire" on your invitation, and spell it out for them: suit and tie for men, dresses or evening gowns for women. The reason I'd explain it for them is that "formal" takes on different meanings to different people... I've seen weddings where some immediate family members (i.e. ones that are supposed to appear in the photos after the ceremony) showed up in their very cleanest wife-beater tee shirts and jeans, and wondered why the bride was so upset.

What has the world come to when a man has to be told to put on a suit for a wedding?! Honestly, what ELSE would a man wear, those awful baggy too-long shorts with 54 pockets?

I suppose so many growing up with the focus on their own comforts and desires have brought us to this sad situation, in which a bride will not be honored on her wedding day with respectful attire, unless she spells it out, like a first grade teacher to clueless, self-absorbed children.

Sorry, just good & tired of the abysmal lack of basic manners lately.

I would just say it is a formal affair. And put a note in with the invitations stating your request and level of "formal"

Sorry, but if your guest list includes a lot of boys, then you're too young to be getting married. Presumably, if their parents are the invited parties, then they know how to dress their children for the occasion.
