Yeah, it is a bit like a non-stamp collector hanging out on an internet forum devoted to stamp-collecting and saying "I don't collect stamps! I don't collect stamps!" Sure it may take two to tango, but it makes sense for the stamp collectors to be on the stamp collecting forum. It's a little weird for the non-stamp collectors to be there.

To understand why Atheists get so upset and argumentative with religious people, you have to understand that Atheist are constantly being assaulted by religious people. Therefore, the Atheist goes into attack mode every time a religious nut makes a comment.

Go to this website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invisible_pink_unicorn. This website is how an Atheist sees religion. I would compare it to an adult arguing with a kid that Santa Claus is real. The child knows that Santa is real, and would never question it. He has proof, the presents underneath the tree, and Mommy and Daddy say he’s real. Why would he question it? Now imagine that kid gets together with millions of kids and starts demanding that there be a Santa memorial in town square, or that it be put in the constitution that all kids must be good because that’s what Santa said. What if those kids also started a pseudo-science center with the main goal of discrediting the laws of physics because they say that Santa could not do what he does, which means the laws must be wrong? I know this is far fetched, but to an Atheist, this how they see a Christian. A little kid crying about Santa.

I'm agnostic, so I debate with everybody. The reason it seems atheists and such are argumentive is because those that follow a religion assume that they are correct. Most atheists don't say anything about small items. But when they are consistantly having these beliefs thrown in their faces, they eventually feel a need to say something. I'm usually quiet about such topics until I have been bashed over the head with religion enough times. The only reason you seem them as argumentive is they don't believe what you want them to. To me, Christians are argumentive.

Because atheists question illogical or unsupported assertions.

We aren't really argumentative, we just offer facts or apply logic and bible thumpers think we're being argumentative.

Mainly because they ("thumpers") have no answers other than claiming an atheist is mean, evil, cruel, satanic, the anti-Christ, et al.

Could I get some vanilla ice cream with that chocolate fudge stuff on top?

Thanks.

I'll take mine now, if you don't mind.

The vast majority of atheists don't argue about it or discuss it or even think about it much at all - To them, gods and goddesses are just like Santa Claus, i.e. just fictional characters that some other people believe in. You only tend to see the few atheists here who are interested enough in the phenomenon of religion to want to come and discuss it.

Why are you being so condescending? You sound arrogant and hateful. There isn't a reason for this question other than to attack someone who disagrees with you. Not very mature or intelligent.

most of us are not hatefull but we are in this section because you dont seem to understand the natural world and dont want to look up things in texts other than by religous people who have no knowledge of science, so it is frustrating to convince you otherwise and we get mad at you re constant ignorance of the facts..

I think that they are offended by the people quoting the Bible, and often writing hateful things. Everyone has free-will, so it is up to each individual to decide what he or she chooses to believe, or not believe.
