Hello,
I have a girl that just turned 2 in March. To make this as short as possible...
I have in-laws buggin me about training her, "it's getting late, she will never be properly trained", blah blah..
I have had her potty in the bathroom since about 12-18 months myself.
She started showing she was interested first when I would go, she would come and "See" what I was doing, and that was about 15 months old or so.
I didnt even bother her about it at all, basically because I didnt have the time to be persistant with her (because Im in school, and my husband has odd hours), and I knew persistance was a big deal.
Now, since she is around older kids, and she sees, she has been asking on her own to go, and when she does, she gets a big smile and I make such a HUGE deal. I have a dance too that I do for pee and poop.
And she asks me for that dance everytime she goes now.
So I agree, she will do it on her own, dont force her IMO.

All the parents I know that have given spankings and degraded the kids, all have issues with them having so many accidents at the age of 6 and 7.

Good Luck :)

Alot of the books say about three years, it depends on the child.

I didn't even think about it til they were at least 2 1/2 yrs old.

She'll let you know when she's ready.

Go out a buy a potty chair put it somewhere, other then the bathroom allow her to play with it, explore sit on it, and when she's ready she'll use it.

Let her go into the bathroom with Mom so she can see what she's suppose to do, don't push her to fast though.

My pediatricians suggested at 12 months put a potty chair in the bathroom so he could get familiar with it. When he wanted to sit on it, let him. I would take my son to the bathroom with me when I had to go and he would sit on his potty chair. i think this helped so much.

i work in a daycare and most parents just all of a sudden at 2 years old start. The kids get confused and not want to do it. it's new to them and they get weirded out by it.

My son was so easy to potty train and I think it's because he basically was used to seeing the 'chair' in the bathroom and the transition was very smooth.

Have lots of patience and don't be pushy. just encourage.

My daughter used to pee on the floor beside the bathtub while waiting for me to put her in the bath. At 15 months, I put a potty chair in the bathroom, and sat her on it while drawing her bathwater. I would praise her when she peed in it, and never forced her to use it. When she was 20 months, she started waking up dry in the morning. It's pointless to potty train a child who cannot go through the night without wetting. I had a 4 day weekend, and stayed home all 4 days with her (at 20 months) and had her in panties... She had one accident, in which I spanked her lightly on the butt to let her know that wasn't acceptable. After that, she was all about the toilet! And SO proud of herself.

2 years old maybe? take your girl to pick out her own panties or pull-ups. bribary works great(although it sounds terrible). say if she keeps her pants dry for a certain amount of time, she gets a prize(example: 1 day= ice cream scoop or cookie). keep motivation and compliments coming.
