If he is having nighttime accidents but is dry during the day, then he probably is not in control of his bladder when he sleeps. Many children may not have full bladder control at night until age 6. Put him in pull-ups at night. Praise him when he wakes up dry. If he doesn't make it, tell him he may be able to make it next time, but don't scold him.
Limit fluids 2 hours before bedtime. Take him to pee just before bed. Get him up early the next day and take him straight to the toilet. My dad did this for my sister to train her to stay dry at night.

well I have 4 potty trained kids that all wear pull ups at night because bed wetting runs in the family too. I rather throw away a pull up and save washing sheets. My oldest is 8, twins 6, and preschooler 4. They know the difference between pull ups at night and going potty in the toilet during the day. We also get the 'goodnights' and they hold better. Kids actually do 'get it' and try to stay dry at night. Just keep encouraging him to be a big boy, no drinking past a certain time at night, ect.

I think in order to save yourself the work of changing sheets everyday, I think I would personally put him back in pull ups at night but, make sure he understands that you understand and are not upset with him but, because you are putting him pull-ups at night doesn't mean that he shouldn't cut back on fluids a few hours before bedtime, shouldn't try to use the bathroom before bedtime and that means that he shouldn't use the potty during the day. you cannot really get mad at him if it is something that is a family trait just help him through this time and try to make him know that it is not his fault. he will grow out of it with time I am sure. pull-ups are so underwear like now it is great especially when he goes or has sleep overs it tends to be embarrassing on a young child. give him confidence, reassurance, support and understanding. Best of luck!!

Usually people put the training pants on their child at night. It's O.K. just make sure that u let him know it's not 4 wettin in, it's a "just in case" thing. Just keep informing him how important it is 2 go 2 the bathroom "pottie", so after a while it will b stuck in his head and it will b automatic 2 him.

I think that i would put him in the pull ups for just alitte while and i would recognize the pull ups as another kind of underware, not a diaper, like night time underware or something, but i would have a cut off time on drinking water or etc...before bed time, then of course make sure he potties before going to bed. This will help on the bed wetting too.Good Luck!

Pull ups are fine! It's quite common for wetting episodes to extend into school age. At five or six, if it is very frequent, then its probably a good idea to talk to your pediatrician about strategies. Have him drink a few glasses of water earlier, say late afternoon, then he wont need as much liquid before bed. Worked with my daughter. That and making her pee an hour before bed, then right before. She is five, and had a bit of trouble six months ago, but that worked great. Good luck!

I went thru the SAME thing! the bed wetting was the same for me as a child also. You can try the meds. For my son they didnt work every night.
I finally took him to a doc that explained some things to me. 1st of all...does your son fall asleep really quickly? Does he snore? these are signs of sleep disorders.
For me, as a child, i would actually dream i was going to the bathroom and wet the bed. The same was for my son.
This can be treated really easily. For me...and for my son...it was literally overnight, just by having the tonsils removed. (it cured the snoring, as well) Ask your doc about this, or do some searching on the internet.
good luck!

There is a product out there now that works as pull-ups do (takes care of wetness), but they look more like regular underwear. I don't remember what they are called, but you can probably find them on the same aisle in the store. This would be a better alternative so he wouldn't feel as though he is backtracking.

Make sure he don't drink anything at 6:00 p.m. and if he's thirst make him slip a little water and before he lay down tell he to go to the bathroom and seat there for a while then lay him down to bed. Boy take alot longer to train it took my daughter 6 hours to train at the age of 2 yrs. and my son until preschool.

yes i had to do that to my son just put them on only after his bath right before he goes to bed and take them off as soon as he gets up in the morning then he'll understand that he still needs to use the potty. then u can wing him off the pull-up thats what im doing now.just dont let him drink anything before bed and in the middle of the night take him to the bathroom if you get up if u have too. it works! good luck!
