Is that for grabbing eyeballs or representing the animals who don't wear clothes either?

Does this defeat the real purpose of the demonstration?

it's kinda backwards to me. Sure they are tring to get a good point across. But no one really believes them or pays attention because they act like CRAZY people.

For PETA'S sake they are so off the wall they are scary. I had no idea they did that, I ignore them as a rule lol. I love animals and want them to be treated humanely, but Peta is just too unbalanced. They want the animals to be on equal footing with us,to be called family not a pet . That we in fact should not own them at all,and stop us from eating meat a natural part of our diet among other things. They have done some good stuff like drawing attention with video of Iams treatment of dogs that was more like torture. But at the same time members of Peta destroyed and disposed of a van load of adoptable dogs and cats, then tossed them away in a dumpster. I do not know what affect their being naked would have on the demonstration ,I'm guessing more of the crowd would be interested in what they were not wearing then the animals welfare. Just my opinion

It was originally done to protest fur, with the slogan 'I'd rather go naked than wear fur'. I think those initial protests and print ads caught a lot of attention, so it's been repeated. But more people have done 'naked protests' of the Iraq war - there have been hundreds of them.

Probably not. Good 'street theater' is always entertaining and gets people's attention. I've always thought that there a group of female anti-nuclear activists should form up calling themselves 'boobs against the bomb'. Guess what piece(es) of clothing should come off. Of corse men could be invited to join as 'honorary boobs', and be given t-shirts with boobs painted on them.

I think it is just to get the attention of passers by. If there is a naked person in public, men can't resist looking, its a part of our DNA.

I have two somewhat related theories: A) to get attention and publicity; and B) to make protesters and causeheads seem sexy and hip, which is rather contrary to their usual image, non?

They are trying to draw attention to themselves. It works, but it does not change anyone's view (on second thought, change that to opinion LOL).
