WOW...Thats a pretty powerful question...For those of us who have a relationship with Jesus Christ and Our Holy Father it is very important for us to pray and more often then not we are listened to and our prayers are answered in one way or the other.Praying brings peace and a sort of harmony to my life.I'm not saying that prayer is the same for everyone. There are the people who only pray when there is some kind of termoil going in or those who only pray when they are scared. And thats o.k. At least they pray..But as for me it gives me a sense of closeness and makes me feel just that much closer to God.If you have that relationship then you know what I mean..if you dont..Well..All I can say is You dont know what your missing out on.Just try it for a while and see if it doesnt make you want to know Jesus and God even deeper.

It gives people something to do in an otherwise hopeless situation.... some people actually believe that it will do some good, that their prayers will be "answered".... nobody seems to be able to tell me what happens when two equally devout people pray for the exact opposite of each other though. God can only "answer" one of them and the other just gets screwed.

We pray to open communication between us and God. God will answer our prayers if our prayers are for His will. We need communication to have a personal relationship with Him. Without that personal relationship, our lives are empty. It's just like how a child needs a personal relationship with his parents.

It's how I communicate my thanks and love to God. I do it personally, rather than go through someone as a proxy. And yes, I pray for myself, for understanding, for knowledge and enlightenment, for change (in myself) and the desire to make those changes. I pray for others, that God give them strength, happines, a reason to smile once today. I also pray that He have a more active presence in the lives of some. (My children, for example). The purpose? He answers prayers. I have been in places and done and seen things that would make you cry just to know about. And God brought me through. Healthy, wiser, saner, and better for all of it. I give glory to God for all that I have, all that I am, and look forward to what God has in store for me in the future. And I pray to give him thanks and glory for all of it.

Prayer is also seen as a meditation. Linking yourself to another world free from harm, oppression and worry. You can escape in prayer. I pray becaue i fear everyday for my life and the lives of those i love.

i will start with a example , if u want something from ur sibling dont u ask. if u don ask u dont want anyting but if u do ur bro or sis will give u what u want. so ur other question why do we pray or prostrate well thats a way we glorify ogd andthank him for all the things wich he has done fo us, the life he has given us, the family has has put us with, the loved ones he has given us. the air wich is free, the eyes from wich u can see.....

praying is a way of speaking to God and worshipping him. It is promiced in the Bible that whatever two or more of us ask him in his name that will he do. The power of prayer is an amazing thing and is very comforting.

I pray to thank God for the things he has done for me, I don't pray to ask God for things! If he has given me something I pray to Thank him for it!
