My husband drinks 4 beers daily on average. Some more never less. He is 70 pounds overweight, is on high-blood pressure meds and refuses to take his cholesterol medicine. His dad died at 42 of heart disease. Hubby thinks I'm a nag if I get on his case. I feel like I have some kind of responsibility or I'm going to be a widow. Help!

Then he is drinking too much, I talk with his doctor (go on his next doctor's appointment if he is anything like my husband you are probably the one who makes the appointment anyways) You can set up and appointment and tell him that it is a checkup and then he is going to be FURIOUS, but tell on him to the doctor.

You're right, you just love and care about your husband. 4 beers a day is not good. He's getting extra calories that he obviously doesn't need. Plus alcoholic beverages slow down the body's metabolism. Sounds like if he just cut that out of his everyday routine he would find that he would lose weight and not have problems with high blood pressure. He does need to be more concerned about his health if he wants to grow old with you and see his children graduate high school and get married, but if there is one thing I've learned, you cannot force a person to change their habits, that person has to realize it is a problem and want to change it themself.

well looks like he doesnt really care about his health... well all that i can say is that its not only about how much u drink also about how regularly or constantly. so if he really drinks 4 beer every day he will get problems to stop drinking, because he is used to have his beer everyday even if he may doesnt get drunk anymore from 4 beer... but if u constantly drink even if it is just one or two beer, it will be hard to stop it. the problem is that he is the problem. and if he doenst sees and understands the problem, he wont start to care about his health... well its a difficult situation if u know ur doctor well and ur really worried, u should call ur doctor or see him and talk to him about ur husband...ask him what he thinks about his condition. and maybe he will talk to him if it is serious!? but in my oppinion, it is not good to drink constantly every day even if it is just 2 beer or so!
