Go to a gym and try some classes first and see what you like. You may like pilates but you don't work up a sweat. I am exactly the same but found I was great at strength type classes. For some diversity try:
spin - cycle classes
boxing
circuit classes
weights
cardio - rowing, stepper, x-trainer, running

Don't give up get a membership for a month or week or ask for some passes and found what suits you. It maybe that you join a gym instead cause you get more motivated when people around you are also striving to reach their goals.

I absolutely love Cindy Crawford's The Next Challenge, it is an older one, but still very good I guess I like it the most because it works everything and it is also one that you can grow with. Also until you find a good one, put on some music set your timer for probably 15 minutes to start with and dance and march in place, just MOVE! Do some sit ups, push ups. Another fun exercise is to get a mini trampoline, it's easy on the joints and works you into a good sweat. I personally love to swim the most, it works everything and I don't feel all yucky and sweaty after wards.

Alot of good suggestions above, wait to do the Pilates, as this is not going to fat burning enough. Pilates is more floor work, a little standing, to burn fat you'll need to move more than this.
To burn fat, you'll need to get something that will make you move for a minimum of 20-30 minutes. When you go to the exercise dvd's be sure to type in beginner in the search engine, or on the exercise site, as they can be quite advanced if you aren't careful.

Pilates for beginners is a good one - you get toned first then you start losing weight. Another idea is to take up a dance class (if you like dancing), you get to meet new people, have a great time and the added bonus is that you do lose some weight.

You might try Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds as a starting point.

Get out side. It is too nice to be doing exercise inside the house. I hope that you are not too embarrassed to go outside and if you are "who cares what others are thinking" get outside and take a walk......best kind of exercise for a beginner.
