We have a APBT (a pit) and a Golden Retriever both big dogs and then we have the " EJ the little white dog from Hell". I understand that the breed is very devoted and usually devoted to one in the family BUT my little guy attacks my husband, attacks the door when he leaves, attacks his shoes when he is asleep. Waits for him to get out of bed and then jumps at him. My dog is nuts......any of you have a similiar Shihtzu experience or perhaps some helpful advice?

Quick Note: I do spoil him (just a little) BUT I spoil my big boys too.....and that includes my husband.

I have a little fella too, Shihtzu,(sp?) how old is he? They are yappers for sure, when mine was a puppy, I taught her to not bark! I got some great advice from my vet, he said whatever you don't want her to do when she gets older, don't let her do now. They need some very devoted strict training, or else they yap all over the place! I thought she would never get it, but she did, now I am soooo glad I took the time to train her, she doesn't bark unless you ask her to, and when someone comes to the door, otherwise she is my little angel.
There are times to spoil them for sure, but not until you have them trained to behave, the spoiling comes later. If you want a nice sweet little fella later, you better put the time in and be consistent now. You won't be sorry, and it'll all be worth it.

There are two things I would suggest to you: behavior or obedience training, and possible medication. Consult with your vet to rule out any sort of tumor or seizure disorder that could be causing his behavior (some dogs need medication for certain behavior issues), then, when they have ruled out physical causes for his behavior, get help from an obedience trainer. Aggression is a serious issue and should never be allowed to go unchecked. Best of luck.

Maybe you could take the dog to obedience school. Make sure you husband comes along. That way they can learn to get along.

breed him with an english bulldog. then give him away take the offspring (bullshoots) and raise them. It is a very good process. I tried it with a psychotic bulldog it really works.

The little shih tzu sounds like momma's baby. I don't know how to solve this problem, sorry!
